Depressed after corpectomy and disectomy fusion

So it's been almost 7 weeks and hopefully my neck collar comes off in a week.Is it normal for me to feel depressed even more that I am at home.It seems while at the hospital going through rehab I felt encourage and ready to get home and get back to doing things for myself. Now that I am home I feel useless crying at times because I cannot just hop up and do simple stuff like sweep.I cannot feel my feet so I have to wait awhile before I can walk to the bathroom. Its also weird that I felt stronger in the hospital. My Pcp says she feels my depression is situational and refuse to give me any meds for depression besides she says by the time it works or builds up in my system my collar will be off and I will feel normal.Has anyone else gone through depression after a surgery like mine and is it just because I have on neck brace or the overall situation?I have a feeling even after the brace comes off I am not going to become magically back to normal and running a marathon.I surely don't wanna have a set back.I am thinking the brace removal is phase two of my recovery and still a long road ahead.Really need to hear from someone who knows and not a Pcp doc who has no experience in what I am going through. Also get happy when I have a good day of no pain or little pain then I get depressed when it starts back.Anyone can say if the pain stops for good?Btw my neurosurgeon says my nerve damage is permanent .

Of course you're going to feel down and depressed when you get back to the reality of home life. No matter how good your family are, it's a bit like coming back from holiday---though I'm not suggesting what you've been through is a holiday.
It's different, and all the positivity is gone. You'll pick up next week, and feel a bit more free when you get rid of the collar, although you'll feel weaker at first when you lose the support.
I had a spinal fusion a long time ago, and was so miserable and fed up, I know how you feel.
Things will slowly fall into place and you'll sort out your feelings, just give it time.
Good luck with your recovery.x.

I Laura, I feel bad to hear for you are going thru, I'm in there too, 2 years ago I had a spinal lumbar fusion and I got a different pain, so for a year got pain medications and finally I went for the spinal cord stimulator , still in pain but is about 60% better, I was working before but now I'm in disability , I refused to take no more Norco , but I feel like you some days depress, with anxiety . I'm taking now diazepam and help me sleep better and with the depression , read your bible will help you and have faith .
Better days will come. Wish you the best . I will have you in my prayers.
Do not give up, keep looking pain ,depression relief.
Sending you blessings.
