Depressed and confused

So I recently got tested for herpes and never showed any symptoms or anything I was just getting tested but my results came back positive. I've contacted the lovers I had going back to the past 3 y years and they are all clean. The lady said she suspected that I recently because my test results were barely positive. It came back hsv 2 igg type 1.13 with 1.1 being positive. Is there any chance it could be a false positive and is there any kind or conformation test?

Yes, since your index value is so low and you've never had symptoms, there is a chance it is false, especially if you tested positive for HSV-1 (or know you have had cold sores previously). The only way to confirm your status for sure is to order the costly University of Washington western blot test, I'm afraid.

I just went through confirmatory testing at university of Washington virology lab. It's$200, plus overnight shipping. They will send you a free sample collection kit and instructions but you'll need adoptive to order it and draw the blood. If you opt for this route,I'm happy to walk you through that process.

Yea I keep reading about the U of Washington and that they're the "gold standard". Do I have to have a physician order the test? I haven't stopped crying since the positive test reading so I'm still shaken up about the whole situation

You do need a physician to order it, yes. Just call the University (800-713-5198) and ask them to send you the herpes 1/2 western blot test kit. It will have everything you need , including the physician order form. Just take it to your doctor, have them draw blood according to the included instructions (very straightforward, nothing complicated) and fill out the order form. They might submit it all for you, or you might have to mail it yourself (I did). But the university sends a super easy kit with everything you need to mail it off, including a box and ice pack approved by FedEx /ups for biological specimen. Tip: freeze the ice pack before you go to your doctor because once you have your blood in the tube, and the signed form, if you are mailing yourself you need to overnight it immediately on ice.
Within 1-2 weeks, the university will send the ordering physician your result.
You can also get this info by googling University of Washington Virology lab and clicking the tab for herpes resources. I won't put a URL here since this forum delays postings with urls.
