Depressed, anxious, insomnia,

I've had insomnia for the past few months. I'm so tired but so stressed out so I can't fall asleep. I've tried medicine and meditating before bed. I don't know what to do, but I feel like I'm going crazy from lack of sleep. I'm a college student and have such a busy schedule so sleep is really important for me to have enough energy during the day. I also have depression and anxiety. Lately I'm worried I'm developing an eating disorder. Everything is overwhelming me this semester. I never have enough time. It's hard not to cry and give up.

Hi, sorry to hear about your struggle.  I wouldn't give up just yet; college is a tough place to be sometimes but it is just a taste of what the rest of life is like as far as never having enough time. It is overwhelming at first, then sooner or later you become more efficient so that you can better balance all of the things you have going on.  If most of your anxiety is related to your schedule and workload, I'd highly recommend the book Getting Things Done, by David Allen. I used to think I was a good planner before I read this book.  Putting these strategies in place helped me become far more productive and less anxious about everything I had going on.  The system is dependent on writing down/tracking everything you have to take action on from the largest project to the smallest email that needs a response.  Just that process of having everything recorded and a system in place for taking action helps get all of that "stuff" out of your mind so that you aren't as worried about it.

Also a couple of questions- are you seeing a therapist for your anxiety and depression?  What kind of schedule are you on for your sleep and how much sleep do you get on an average night?
