Depression

My doctor told me I was going through depression since I don't sleep I am not interested in doing anything, lost concentration and because I cry pretty often and some other things. She asked me to take medication but I refused because I don't like taking pills I feel like that would harm my body more or do other harm. Am I wrong. Should I accept the medication?

    Hi pineda

i know the thought of medication can be scary, but they do help amazingly well when your ill. Try not to let the fear stop you from getting better ♥ stress/anxiety or depression can cause other illnesses in the long run if left untreated.

Be kind to yourself and get yourself well.

We are all here to help ♥♥

    God bless xx

I deliberated for ages before going on cipralex but somebody said " would you take aspirin if you had a headache? Insulin if you were diabetic. yes. Then why not give your mind what it needs to heal."

Made a lot of sense to me

Hi I understand what you are saying,  but if you want to feel better you need to take the meds the doctor has given you unless you want to stay depressed?    Taking pills doesn't mean you will become a junkie or will be on them for life you know!  They are just an aid to help you feel better that's all.

These are not the meds of long ago which were stronger,  they are much safer now and won't do you any harm.   x

Do you know if I will deal with depression my whole life ?

How long is a piece of string?   Many people only suffer 1 episode,  others periodically and others can for many years.  We are all different and no one can predict it for you.

I can tell you though that the sooner you deal with it the sooner you will start feeling better and you have every chance of it being less severe.  Depression which is ignored and allowed to go on for years can result in needing a lot more time to sort out,  both because of the length of time and also the complexity.   x
