Hi ann. I was told my vitamin d level was very low and low d can play a role in depressive symptoms.  In some cases getting d level up can help, in other cases like mine, it was only one potentially contributing factor.  Many cases when a dr will see a low d level they write a prescription strength d to get your levels up. If depressive symptoms are mild it may help. If they are more severe there may be another cause. I pray for you to feel better. Please ask me anything...I’m happy to share my experiences if it can help.

    Hi,Ann!

    Youve just reminded me!!

I was told told that taking vitamin D can help by my dr year agos  many in fact. I  had them for a while but  Like I do I stopped taking them. I  Have so many others to remember! I forgot.

Many people take this as a supplement to help them with thier depression. my friend takes them. She gets them from the chemist she says they help her. She’s  also on other meds’ too.

I never carried on! now years later I see you’re post. It’s got me thinking.

I will when I next go to my dr ask about this as I think you should too, to see what’s the benefits it may have.

I’m sorry I’ve not answered your question but it’s a thought I Don’t know much about it but would like to know if this would help.

I hope someone answers you on here that takes them and we can see what they say.

    Take care

    Vicky🌈

Hi there. I don't but I know that I should because I have read that we all need to spend 20 minutes a day in the sun to get the vitamin D that we need. Thanks for bringing it up.

Hi ann, I tend to use Vit D in the winter and I believe there is a connection between Vit d and depression.

Hi lack of vitamin D can play a part in many disorders including physical ones.  If you start taking it though check with your doctor (or pharmacist)  as it can interfere with other meds.  Be careful too of overdosing as this can cause liver problems among other things.  x

Hi. I have used vitamin D for depression, but I haven’t noticed any change. I hope it works for you. There is research that shows it does. Have you had blood tests that shows your level is low?  Good luck with it.
