      Leslie,

Sorry to jump into your discussion with Frank, but when you wrote about  "depression" and "shock treatment," I assumed that you meant electroconvulsive therapy (ECT)?

Are you writing about ECT (which was once call "electroshock therapy") or CAT scans (more commonly just called CT scans – computerized tomography) or MRI's (magnetic resonance imaging)?

CT scans are basically a series of X-rays and MRI images are created using magnetic fields and radio frequencies. As I can't have MRI's due to a pacemaker implant, I don't know much about them. And since I can't have MRI's, I tend to have more CT's than most people.

Can you clear that up for me? Whether you're writing of ECT, MRI's or CT's? Or a combination of all? I just don't know of anything about ECT damaging brain cells – or at least not too badly!

Also wonder what you mean by "...g a d makes you feel all the time how depression makes you feel..."? Generalized Anxiety Disorder?

I hope that I can help some... we seems to have many of the same disorders.

I've had more ECT sessions than should be legally allowed, but the only "damage" that I had were problems with memory. That was 15-16 years ago and even though I'm in the midst of a severe depressive relapse right now, it's not because of ECT.

I haven't known anyone to have any permanent brain damage, except for memory problems, due to ECT. Have you consulted with an M.D. psychiatrist or a neurologist, maybe? They should, at the least, be able to help you to discern between 30-year-old damage or a more recent relapse. Good luck.
