Brain fog is recognised as meaning 'confusion, forgetfulness, and lack of focus and mental clarity' so I'll answer assuming this is what you meant. These are common but not the major symptoms of depression, so are common in people with it. However, you do not need to be depressed to possess these characteristics, there can be many other reasons such as lack of energy. Hope this helped/made sense

For me it helps to write things down. A calendar, fridge magnet pad, sticky notes, what have you. They are life savers. A bulletin board works nicely. I used that before as a positive board with my art, poetry, and positive words. It helped me to look at it from time-to-time. Or Word Searches and Cross Word Puzzles, Scrabble. Anything that makes you think.
Reading helps with memory as it gets us to comprehend what happened in the story. If you enjoy reading. Also, exercise, certain foods like fish are great for memory and a well-balanced diet with lean proteins, tons of fruits and veggies are fantastic, too.
Hobbies that are critical in nature and require motor skills and creativity to be used are a peaceful outlet.
Best of luck!
