Depression on fluoxetine

Hi I have had serious health anxiety on and off all my life and mild depression. it has always been treat with fluoxetine (prozac) which has always worked. I have been on it now for 2 weeks and the anxiety has eased significantly but I am feeling slightly depressed and very down. is this a normal reaction to the tablets as I was not depressed before I started taking them.

    PROZAC//FLUOXETINE is one of the best medication for depression/ anxiety/ etc. I am on FLUOXETINE you just have to remember that it takes from 8 to 12 weeks to get the full effect of this medicine. Just hang in there and things will get better. God bless

    Hi ami, i eill warn you that i personally will never take this drug again, in the end of years of been forgotten on it, it left me with a really terrible state of depression, which never eased until i came off them completely. Please be really careful on them. I now won't let my doctors give me ANY antidepressants, i use yoga and herbal blends instead. Good luck on yours, make the doctors check you every now and again.

    Prozac (fluoxetine) is a type of antidepressant called a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) used for treating depression, bulimia, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). Prozac is available in generic form. Side effects of Prozac include:

    nausea,

    upset stomach,

    constipation,

    headaches,

    anxiety,

    sleep problems (insomnia),

    drowsiness,

    dizziness,

    nervousness,

    heart palpitations,

    loss of appetite or increase in appetite,

    weight changes,

    cold symptoms (stuffy nose, sneezing, sore throat),

    dry mouth,

    decreased sex drive,

    impotence, or

    difficulty having an orgasm.
