    Hi laura 05315

We note from a recent post which you have made to our forum that you may be experiencing thoughts around self-harm. If we have misinterpreted your comments then we apologise for contacting you directly. But if you are having such thoughts then please note that you are not alone in this, and there are people out there that can help.

If you are having these suicidal thoughts then we strongly recommend you speak to someone who may be able to help. The Samaritans offer a safe space where you can talk openly about what you are going through. They can help you explore your options, understand your problems better, or just be there to listen.

Their contact details are on our patient information leaflet here: https://patient.info/health/dealing-with-suicidal-thoughts, which also offers lots of other advice on how you can access the help you may need.

If you are having such thoughts then please do reach out to the team at the Samaritans (or the other people detailed in our leaflet) who will understand what you're going through and will be able to help.

    Kindest regards

    Patient

So sorry to hear you feel like this. Like you I’ve been very low and have experienced mood swings, anxiety and depression. How our bodies can turn on us like this beyond me.  I’ve explored lots of routes for help and fear the medical profession isn’t well equipped to help with many of the symptoms and overall cause.  I can bear most things if I feel positive but if not my world crumbles.  You don’t say if you have sought any counselling?  I’ve been on HRT for a while and it’s not helping much now so haven’t hesitated to ask for a low dose antidepressant and a referral to counselling.  You are entitled to free counselling on the NHS (6 sessions normally) although the waiting list is long. However if you feel as bad as you do you’ll get priority. I’ve also paid for counselling locally it’s about £35-40 a session so not cheap but I’d pay more if I got my life back. It has helped me having someone to talk to who’s qualified to tell me if what I’m feeling is normal or is my hormones playing tricks on me.  They’ve helped me feel more positive and cope with the bad days. You need to tell your GP you feel this bad too. 35 is very young to be feeling this bad. Did they refer you to a specialist or are they still treating you locally? If the latter ask for a referral so you can explore every avenue.  Keep talking on here. I’ll keep an eye out for you so can respond more quickly if you need something.

Hi Laura,  I am sorry you are going through all of this.  If I understand correctly, at 35, you have gone through premature menopause.  That alone is hard on the body, mind, sprit.  Are you on hrt, sleeping pill and AD at the same time?  I am no expert, but perhaps could you be having side effects from a combo of the meds?

Hi Laura, it's like I've already stated in earlier posts. The menopause should come with a warning. I reached the menopause 4 years ago but before that had depression /anxiety present before. I would liken the way I feel going through the menopause as no different to any other bout of depression this time full of regrets about things I've done wrong or things I wished I'd achieved ect, ect. I tried some hrt but it didn't help so I now have a mood stabiliser which helps a bit. The mood swings are horrendous. It's mainly sadness to be honest. I would say, keep trying as it really isn't an easy time. Message me anytime. Donna xxx

Hi Laura your not alone in this and reassurance is always here, it’s an awful thing menopause /peri but we have to dig deep to get through this.I struggle most days with all different symptoms this week it’s pain in my shoulders and back . I try and stay in the garden most days and kept my body and mind active. Doesn’t always help but I hate being stuck in the house . Keep going and keep posting 💕
