Yes.  But don't take this drug without knowing what will happen when you come off it. The pharmaceutical companies hide the dangers  I'm currently withdrawing. I'm an RN and I've weaned down from 20mg to 5 mg and it is hell. I can't even begin to tell you. In the UK we call it Seroxat.  Do your homework.  This is not a drug to take unless all other options have been explored.  Please, in emplore  you. It's ruining my life and I'm off work. Just inform yourself of the risks.

    Take good care.

      I went from 20mg to nil .

Can you share with me what kind of withdrawal symptoms you feel?

I am struggling to want to live.

Hi how are you doing? I have been on paroxetine for 4 weeks and feel it's finally working, my anxiety is under control and now feel like doing things! Hope you are ok!

    Hi Georgia,

I feel that this drug does work for depressive disorder.

It can take a few weeks or months to kick in.

However, it will not cure you of being depressed.  It merely shadows your true emotions.

If you want to lead a good life and feel you deserve it, stick to Paroxetine.

The Paxil dosage you are prescribed is appropriate, do not stop the medication in between complete the course and you will see by yourself how effective antidepressant medication Paxil is.

Hi Georgia, I have been on Aropax for 12 years and yes it does work.  I had depression because of my anxiety and panick attacks.  It got to the point where my anxiety and panic attacks were taking over.  I started on 20mg and in 2 months went up to 40mg and then 9 years ago dropped back to 20 mg.  I started weaning myself off them with my doctors permission.  Today is my 3rd day on 10mg and so far so good.  I did a lot of research on coming off aropax and it scared the daylights out of me so fingers crossed i will be fine.  I will stay on 10mg for aprox 3 months and then try to get down to 5mg so Ill seehow i go.

    Hi Georgia

    Have just seen this thread.

I suffer from anxiety disorder and mild depression, I tried ALL other antidepressents but Aropax is the only one that effectively worked for me - the others just made things worse for me for some reason.

I have found this drug to be awesome and life changing and my quality of life on it is..............normal. Nice and normal just like everyone else who isn't mentally ill. It's fab.

I have no side effects apart from some weight gain which is not nice but better than the life I had without this.

I cannot recommend this frug highly enough and I am someone that hates taking meds of any kind!

Has made a big difference to me. I avoided all offers of anti-depressant medication for years. But things got so bad that I knew I had to try a different approach. For me personally, starting seroxat / paroxeting has made a big improvement to my life. I started on 10mg for first month, then stepped up to 20mg. Took about 6 - 8 weeks before I got used to them (dry mouth, very tired all the time, overeating).

I also made other changes: only drink 1 or 2 glasses of wine a week, sometimes none, try to eat healthier, try to get even a little exercise every day. Speak to people more. All this plus the medication has helped put me back on track. I'm still waiting on counselling apointment, but that looks like it will take many months.

I don't think a little white pill every day is going to do it all, but the medication plus other small changes seem to be adding up to me being a much more capable adult. I am much less anxious, cope better, and the depression is much reduced.

It works a treat, I was prescribed 20mg about 6 years ago and it really helped, I wanted to come off it 4 years ago was advised against as I wasnt ready for the withdrawal symptoms. I have put on 4 stone in weght since I started taking them and I have problems with will power. 4 weeks ago they screwed up my repeat prescription and I found myself without for 2 days, it wasn't a nice experience, when I got the script I decided enough was enough and just went onto 10mg, the withdrawal effects from lowering the dose were apparent but not too overwhelming. 4 days ago I forgot to take my 10mg and was away from home for most of the day, I decieded this was it, time to quit.

Sat at my desk feeling awful, palpitations, rushes up my neck into my head, prickly face, hot flushes, slight chest pains, ringing in my ears, heavy eyes and rings around them, headaches, the feeling of slurred speech, mild dizziness, fatigue, occational moments wanting to cry. All of which seem to intensify as the day goes on. Sleeping helps ease it but painkillers etc do nothing..

I am quite happy and positive, focused on getting off these meds and looking to the future however the withdrawal certainly isnt a myth, am I to belive I'm one of the 3 in 10 that gets these symptoms and the other 7 can get away with little of no come down. I dont know... but either way, the bottom line is, yes they will help you, if you dont want to be a slave to them forever or dont want to experience the withdrawal look elsewhere...

One point worth mentioning, 2 years ago wanted to come off my Doc's best advice was, don't, not because I didnt need them anymore but because of the withdrawal. Best way to avoid it is to just keep on taking it... Pretty insane if you think about it.
