Depuy hip replacement

Posted , 8 users are following.

I'm scheduled to have hip replacement surgery next month with the surgeon using Depuy products. Can anyone ease my mind of today's quality of this product? Should I go with product? Or try to find another surgeon using a different product? Just curious after reading about the recalls of 2010. Is there a better hip replacement prosthesis than the Depuy products I should consider?

Thank you!

Mike

    Hi Michael,

Thank you for posting ... It seems that your surgeon knows what he is doing - He explained to you why he is using this particular brand and as the company has a class law suit against them, the components must be perfect ...

right? or am I too trusting?

Haha, my wife is too trusting, I'm always suspicious and a little pessimistic. You know the old saying? "If something sounds too good to be true",,,? And I'm also sure the doctors told their patients back in the 90's that Depuy metal on metal implants are the best. I just wish to know why my surgeon is choosing that brand and why with the particular materials.

      Thanks!

I wouldn't worry too much Michael. With all the litigation that's on the go with  Depuy your surgeon is hardly likely to use a prosthetic that hasn't been fully ok'd. He would leave himself up a gum tree and even down the river without a paddle.

Haha! I'd almost like to see that if he doesn't do a perfect hip replacement on me! 😜

But I'm sure your right. Yea not to worried about him using the Depuy prosthetic any longer, just hope he's having a great day that day! 👍
