i have delrealization and deperaonalization but i had it before i started zoloft.

it comes and goes and is mild now ive been on zoloft for 8 months - i had to increase when i felt it coming back.

it it such a horrible feeling and i find when i focus on it more my anxiety heightens and then it gets worse.

you could need a dosage increase?

or if youre see a psychologist then working on the anxiety which should then hopefully help it.

i just talked to my dr she said to increase to 100 but im bot sure what do cus several people say it takes 12 weeks

i didnt want to increase either but im so glad i did.

time frames are different for everyone, have you had derealisation the whole time you were on zoloft or just recently?

from my personal experience i would say to increase if you feel comfortable. 100mg is still a low does and i found within a week i felt so so much better

i actually experienced dp/dr before any medication.Thats what gave me anxiety

same here, was so scary until i figured out what it was.

sounds silly but i used a rubberband on my wrist that i was use to flick my wrist to bring me back to the moment and focus less on the dp/dr.

hope you feel better very soon 😃

      Hi Jess

I also suffer with derealisation as a symptom of my anxiety.

I'm on week 7 of Sertraline and last week I had a great week.....from Monday to FridayI felt back. However on the Monday I went up to 150mgs (from 125) and on Friday I started feeling really detached and then my anxiety came back. The detachment seems to have got worse and I find when I'm talking to people that them talking about normal life sounds weird....like it makes sense to me, but at the same time it feels unreal.

I wondered if you can you relate to that at all and do you think its the increased dose thats causing it? I've also had diarrhoea for 5 days straight.

After a great week last week I'm feeling pretty desperate right now. x

      Hi Sophie

No, I've never been on Sertraline before. My Psychiatrist wanted me to increase by 50mgs every 2 weeks to get to 200mgs or even beyond but I established from this forum that its too quick.

I was on Paroxetine for 9 years and Escitalopram for 6, during which time I was symptom free and had a great life. in the last 8 months I've been living a nightmare and just dont feel Ill ever be right again.

      Hi Jess

Sorry for the delayed reply. I've actually been physically unwell (unrelated to anxiety) with severe diarrhoea, stomach cramps and nausea that resulted in my having to be admitted to hospital for a couple of days as I was severely dehydrated and had very low blood pressure.

As a result, the sertraline wasn't getting a chance to get absorbed into my system so I started getting withdrawal symptoms like brain zaps.

I recovered a week and a half ago so the 150mgs of Sertraline has gradually been getting back into my system and over the last 2 days my thoughts have turned really inward again and the unreality has felt really bad. Today I have felt totally disconnected from life and its really distressing. I'm hoping things will level out soon and then I have to decide whether to increase my dose.

How are you doing now Jess?
