Dermoid ovarian cyst

Hello ladies. This is my dilemma. I'm 49, Peri menopausal. Approx 3 years ago, when i still had a period, i would have these horrible cramps which in turn would turn into excruciating pains that moved from pelvic, hip and lower back. I most recently found out i have an approximate 4.something cm dermoid cyst in my right ovary. I'm scheduled for laparoscopic surgery on May 16. This is my problem, doc says no guarantee the pain will go away after the ovary is removed. WTF??? That's the point of the surgery!!! Has anyone experienced a painful dermoid cyst and what was your outcome? I can no longer manage this pain anymore as hydrocodone and ibuprofen has given me a stomach ulcer and Tylenol doesn't touch the pain. I feel doomed, any suggestions????? Desperate Cheri.

I was in constant discomfort for a couple of months until my surgery a few weeks ago. Rarely felt normal. Before that, I didn't even know anything was wrong with my ovaries, symptoms came on all at once and I dragged myself to the best emergency care.

My symptoms from the cyst itself are completely gone now after surgery. They removed the ovary as well, couldn't be saved. I would go through with the surgery as dermoid cysts don't go away on their own.

I think what your doctor means is that it'll take a while for your body to fully recover. There's also the underlying cause and other factors to consider.

I HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER SOON !
