DERMOID OVARIAN CYST VERY ANXIOUS PLEASE HELP

Hi

i have been suffering with lower pelvic pain on and off for years and some other symptoms heavy periods, needing to wee more mainly at night, I mentioned at my last doctors appointment and along with a urine sample I was sent for ultrasound scan.

The scan showed a cyst on left ovary 6cm and small 20mm on right ovary, I also had an internal ultrasound scan at same time, at the time of scan I was advised I have dermoid cysts.

when I attended a follow up appointment with the GP to get more info she confirmed the dermoid cyst, I have to say I suffer with anxiety so this has made me extremely Ill mentally. My GP advised me that from the notes from the ultrasound scan I have dermoid cysts that have no suspicious parts or walls/segments, no internal vascular features if have been referred to the Gynocologist at the hospital as size will mean removal.

i was wondering if anyone has a similar situation, how long will I have to wait ?

I'm having a bit of pulling pain and and aching off and on when going to the toilet is this right for what I have?

i feel very scared about cancer I have bad health anxiety and although the Gp and sonographers seem to think nothing sinister I can't think of anything else.

sorry such a long post any info would be great

I am 34yrs and mother of 2children

    Hi

I am grateful of the replies from all on here it's been really helpful.

i had a really bad night last night with worry, since my diagnosis over a week ago I haven't been particularly hungry and have lost some weight I have been freaking out and googled symptoms and have convinced myself the cyst is cancerous and this is why I am losing weight, did anybody else have this issue I am very stressed with this situation which I know most people would be but can't seem to stay positive.

is this normal weightloss, how long did everyone wait for a gyno appointment, did anyone go private for the consultation ?

    Thanks

hi carly as I said before try not to look at the worst scenario. my 2 cysts were benign. I had my operation-hysterectomy-I waited 7 weeks from 1st appointment (an ultrasound) until the operation, which went very well and I'm back to most normal activities, just being careful. Feel great.

    Quick update

ive had consultant appointment and advised will be better to do open surgery as dermoid on both ovaries and they want to preserve as much as possible as young.

my ca125 level came back normal this was a stressfult time waiting for result, I know it isn't a confirmation that this cyst isn't bad however it felt like a small positive in this mess!

I have been put on the list now for surgery not sure how long this will be, I'm a bit worried as I had already booked our family summer holiday before this whole thing happened and am now really apprehensive about going knowing I have this cyst, however can't afford to lose the money, has anybody experienced any torsion with this type of cyst this is what I am worrying about

    thanks
