Dermovate sensitivity

I was diagnosed with LS 10 yrs ago by my gp after suffering severe swelling. Eumovate has controlled it well all this time. Now in menopause I had heavy period and a couple of sores developed. New gp said use dermovate for a week

A few hours after applying I felt discomfort and the whole area was swollen. The next morning it was less swollen but still felt sore.so I discontinued use. The problem now is that the eumovate I have always depended on burns when I use it and isnt working anyway

The gp says dont use anything until I see a consultant dermatologist which could be some time. Without treatment it is swelling and more painful each day. Has anyone else had this experience with dermovate?

Sorry you are having this problem, Tomi. I haven't tried dermovate ...but I do know steroids work most of the time. When I am having a problem I try Cortizone 10 first. It is less harsh. Perhaps that would help you!

Some women here use a milder steroid, I think it's betnovate. Could you try that? Before menopause I used to get sores when I had my period. Now i think it might have been the chemicals in sanitary towels. Can you try organic ones? or rely on tampons more?

I don't use steroid, I'm one of the people who has found relief with borax. Bicarbonate of soda is an alternative, or salt sitz baths might bring some relief.

I'm just throwing out suggestions here, hoping that something might help you. I had significant improvements in symptoms when I drastically reduced sugar in my diet, you could try that, though you will crave it for a while. It's hard when you are used to it.

Good luck, I hope you find something that works for you
