Desperate!

Had a band fitted early Jan and lost 2 stone on preop diet and few weeks after op.

I have had 2 fills and feel hardly any restriction still. I havent lost an ounce since just after op, but i havent put on either. Sticking to 1000cal a day and using an app to track my food intake. Not much i cant eat still.

Really praying this next fill does the trick, and that i start shifting this 3 stone.

Hi Margaret, I was banded end of November.  Its still bloody hard work but Ive now had 3 fills and starting to get restriction.  Ive definitely got to chew and eat a hell of a lot more slowly and having my meals off a side plate but Its also the choices of food to eat also.  Im not quite at that sweet spot people talk about but am on the way to it.  Im only losing a couple of pound a week - last two weeks I put on but it was easter and have been off work with the kids - chocolate goes down way too easy but hopefully I will be back on the right track again soon.  Remember to drink a glass of water before each meal to help try and fill you up - dont drink again for 20 mins after your meal as you need to let your band do the work of pushing your food through.  Try not to eat potatoes bread rice or pasta or only have a tiny amount try and bulk up on crunchy foods and protien you need to chew and chew before you swallow.  Once you have more fills you will get there x its just being patient and perservering x

Ive lost almost 3 stone now - each time i get a fill and go back on liquids/soft food is when I lose the most and the remaining 2-3 weeks i stay same or lose the odd lb - or like the last couple of weeks put on slightly.  Its a new life and you have to adjust to a new way of eating.  Think of this as a gradual loss - i think if you lose too quickly our stretched skin cant keep up - slowly but surely will give us more chance of getting that figure we want.  Ive finally started to get back a waist! and know things can only get better.  I think the more exercise you do or walking helps too - Ive bought a fitbit to see how many steps a day I do - my aim is 10000 a day, im not a gym person but may go when I feel more confident in myself.  Ive 5.3 in my band at the moment and think i just need a tiny bit more.  Im having yoghurt with granola for breakfast. (that crunch thing) and lately ryvita with philly light for lunch or soup dinner just a small plate of what everyone is having.  Its not a race its for life is my motto! We Can Do this! and We Will Get There x

Im eating virtually no carbs at all.

      I just never seem full!

I have 5.5 in my band and next fill in a week.

It seems so different for everyone. I know someone who only has 4 in her band and losing a nice steady weight.

      I want that be me!

Oh Margaret, I do sympathise. I am beginning to get worried. I only had my band fitted 3 weeks ago but have felt no restriction. I am trying to stick to puree/soft foods still but feel as if I could eat anything. The hunger then tempts me to eat unhealthy things. I have waited seven years for this band and I really need to work with it. I am not due a first fill till end May, but the advice pack I have says that even with fills the restriction is never as great as when the band is first fitted. Which does not bode well. I, too' lost 2 stone pre-op.

Hi margaret, I had my op on March the 9th.  I have lost a stone since then but it is going so slowly - I have my first fill tomorrow and I am really hoping that it helps as I have been struggling, especially in the evenings.  I am so glad that there are people out there experiencing the same problems as me as I was feeling a bit of a failure!

It appears some can be really lucky and get restruction from the first fill. Others need 3 or 4 more fills.

Dont worry, it will just take time to get it right.

I have to say that first week the band was fitted i thought " blimey this is magnificent" lol
