Well done for going a week without a drink. That's a real achievement which you should be proud of.

please don't go and get a bottle of vodka. Your problems will be ten times worse tomorrow and you will want another bottle, feel even lower and soon be back to where you were before.

as well as trying to battle without alcohol yourself, this is made very much harder for you with your brother drinking in front of you. Comments like "I'll give you a month before you're drinking again" are IMO cruel, it's like he wants you to fail. He has his own alcohol problems and may be jealous as he thinks he may have lost a 'drinking buddy''.

Could you not tell the rest of the family about your drinking and get it all out in the open and say he's not helping but hindering your recovery. He would then have less control over you. Sorry to be blunt, but as your carer he should be supporting you during this difficult time. Instead by having and drinking alcohol in your home all he's doing is putting temptation in your way.

When you see your alcohol support worker or cpn, please tell them what he's doing to you and ask them what they suggest. To achieve the best chance of recovery, you need an alcohol free and calm environment. Good luck!

Full respect to you for going a week jsvkie X ..... I agree with vickylou about your enviroment making it harder for you and also strongly reccomend you talk to your family if you're able to for needed added support. I was also on a bottle of vodka a day and was discharged from hospital after my detox a week ago. I've been drinking coke all week. It could be that a family member will let you live with them for a while so you can get your balance back at your own speed without your brother and the booze lying around to distract you. XX
