Dexilant withdraws

Hello,

I have been on Dexilant60mg  for 8 weeks now and decided to try and get off because my barrium swallow only showed a bit of reflux, figured it was worth being on long term as there are risks.

Since going off it 3 nights ago I’ve been getting crushing heartburn in my chest throat and back. I’ve also been feeling very hot and neausios..

Could my doctor have misdiagnosed something or can a withdrawal really be this bad? How can I taper down when it’s a capsule? I couldn’t handle it so I went back on it tonight but I don’t want to be on it to long...

Any advice would be great.

Cheers

I know how horrible and frightening heartburn and the associated symptoms with reflux can be.

None of us want to stay on the meds because they give us a sense of security (me anyway)

However, I have stopped my Omeprazole to avoid long term side effects but I’ve been trying my hardest to be super careful with food and drink.

No Coca Cola, coffee, fried foods, fatty foods and pastries.

Have you tried decaffeinated green tea with honey in it? Eat lots of fruit (not citrus)and vegetables.

If you already eat really healthily then go back to your Doctor to discuss your medication but you don’t need to feel bad if you have to stay on it for a bit longer. Gaviscon or similar can help too when you come off the meds.

Hope you have success and I wish you well in your strive to come off your medicine.

    Kind regards

    Jane
