Dfferent treatments for LS in pre- menopausal and Post- Menopausal Women

Wanted to hv a discussion regarding different treatment protocals for pre and post -menopausal women. I hv. been taking alot of notes  in the 16 days since my diagnosis and there is a lot of great information out there. However, I am becoming somewhat overwhelmed with the range of things tried, and the use of estrogen creams etc. for those of us not in menopause. I am 47, still get my period every 28 days, assuming I still hv Estrogen, so some of these protocals do not seem to be for me. I was also very sexually active (1 partner, hubby, for 25 years) until this all started in March.  Now, not so much! ?? Any thoughts on dfferent treatments discussed here for women who are not menopausal? ( of course I’m sure that's right down the road as well! ) 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🙄

    karen2332,

I believe I've been dealing with LS all of my life.  I believe I had flare ups as a little girl, relative periods of calm, and then flare ups.  I think it really got going for me after the birth of my second child when I was 31.  That's when all the "I think I have a yeast infection all the time" drama starting.  Lots of burning, itching etc.  Mistook some things for urinary tract infections, though it never was.  I am 54 years old now and went through menopause when I was 51.  However, the years leading up to that were the WORST for my vulval area.  My periods were like clock work and then they just stopped. But up until that time, I battled almost constant vaginal discomfort.  I was not diagnosed then but I *think* some estrogen cream might have been helpful.  While you are producing estrogen, it's certainly not stable even if you are having regular periods.  Both estrogen and progesterone are probably way out of balance.

Once I went through menopause, my LS aggressively took over.  Now, strangely enough, I am bothered less with itching and stuff mainly because my daily lubrication is all but gone, but I have almost totally lost any vulval architecture I had.  It happened so fast it was amazing.  I've been working with estrogen creams that do help but I am sensitive to them so I am now going to start taking low dose HRT.

I guess my point is that even though you are not in menopause, I wouldn't write off using some estrogen cream.  You may actually still need some.
