Hello all,

I'm hoping you can help me. After 18months of horrible acid reflux symptoms (painful burping, being sick, not being able to keep certain foods down) and also very bad stomach pain I was finally sent for an endoscopy and they found i had rolling hiatal hernia. I have been really really ill especially recently and I was wondering.. has anyone else felt extreme fatigue with this problem? Also, I am under the age of 21 and they said that this is very unusual to get it this early on and theyve given me an option for surgery and recommended that i have it. however i am at a very important year of my education... can someone help me and let me know if they have benefited from the surgery? and whether they think i could postpone the surgery and keep suffering or whether it's best to get treated asap? pls help. Thank you

Do not say no to the surgery,, you risk never getting offered it again neutral

Hi, Im 32 and was diagnosed with gastritis and a hiatus hernia in September, I have been trying a combination of different meds and nothing is working for me so I have been referred for surgery, I am quite concerned about having another op (as I had my gallbladder removed last year) but feel it is my only option as I am in constant pain with the acid but it feels like a tightening in my chest very similiar to gallstone pain, I feel Im too young as well to have all these issues, but I just want my health back sad

Oh dear, sorry to hear about your problems.. It's awful. Yes i too have been trying different meds for it since I have had symptoms but nothing seems to be working for me either. Do you know how long you have to wait for your surgery? It's looking for me like they arn't going to be able to do it for a while, but i'm getting to a point now where it is really affecting me and my life/education... I just hope they can sort it out soon.. it's really starting to get me down! sad

please try a gluten free diet. I had the offer of surgery too but changing to whole foods and no grains cured the reflux.I also had deficiencies due to this problem.

Get checked for zinc copper folate ferritin iron and b12 . If you are deficient you will feel bad and need investigating for caeliac disease altho u don't always get a positive test in intolerence. Stick with fish, meat, salad, baked potates butter fruit, veggies, eggs , cheese and away from glutened food prep areas. After 3 weeks my reflux stopped,

i also have hiatus hernia and was diagnosed with GERD which i obviously cured with diet

    good luck
