so today i have finally been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. i queried ME with my doctor as looking online ME seems more fitting. he said they ten to diagnose fibro which covers ME aswell now?!?! seems a bit odd to me.

not sure where to go next to be honest. im only 33 with a 13 month old little girl and being self employed i feel like i just want to crash into a pile on the floor and sleep!

the simple summary of difference in diagnosis is that in fibromyalgia, pain is the dominating symptom but in chronic fatigue/ME, fatigue is the major symptom, although there are obviously symptom overlaps . What has your GP advised so far, or what have you tried yourself.....do look into asking about onward referral if you have access to a specialist CFS service in your area. I am awaiting my first appointment despite never being given a diagnosis by my GP nor any solutions to my symptoms ,often you have to try things for yourself...but can understand how difficult it is to be self-employed and a parent ,as my problems also started after having kids.

thanks. this is what i tried telling my GP, tiredness/fatigue is my main problem and the reason i first went to him. will see if i can get a referrla as there is a specialist team 35 minutes from here.

Very surprised that a doctor thinks Fibro covers ME..They are 2 distinct diagnoses and while you can have both, one diagnosis doesn't cover both. There would not be 2 different names and criteria for each. I was diagnosed with ME and not fibro. My trigger spots did not meet the criteria for fibro, but my fatigue, burning skin, nerve problems and brain fog did meet criteria for CFS/ME

hoping that goes well for you. Most regular Doctors are not up to speed on cfs or fibro, that or they just dont care. It's a sad state of affairs
