Diagnosed today and looking for reassurance...

Hi

I have been diagnosed today with HS after years of trying to find out what was wrong with me and being given minocin and dianette. I am very scared and worried about what the future holds having spent the day reading up on it… I can’t possible concentrate on work!

I have been suffering from this condition for around 4 years I think although I can’t recall when it first started. I have suffered mainly on my bum, hip and breasts…although I quite often get painful lumps in my groin too. I am pretty scarred now and I don’t think that will ever chnge.. but I’m now really fearful that this is going to get worse as I don’t currently have anything in my armpits but they did flare up with something a few months back that I treated with canesten..

I’m about to start taking isotretatonin for my condition, has anyone found that this has helped?

Thanks to any help anyone can give

B sad

Have you tried giving up dairy foods? there is a very strong link between milk and hs sufferers. i gave up any foods that contained milk or milk products and ive been cured for about 10 weeks now, i am amazed and it feels like a great weight has been lifted off my shoulders, my hs was bad, and i got fed up with being turned awaytime after time from my gps, so ive done my own research and its payed off, if you like i could send you some info from a proffeser i met online, some interesting stuff. you have to sacrifice you cheese andall the nice foods!! but a small price to pay to rid of the \" Pigs\"..

i have been on isotretatonin for 4+ years and have been abcess free for most of that time, for me isotretatonin has been very successful, although it does come with its own problems - these get less problematic as the dosage is reduced

    good luck
