Hi ,

I was diagnosed with type 2 yesterday so feeling a tad overwhelmed and teary atm sad I've just turned 40..my 1st fasting was 7.6 then 4 days later was 6.2 so was told pre diabetic and sent for a gtt ...the results were 7.2 then 8.6 hour after .

.anyway my question is after being told I was pre diabetic I stopped eating chocolate crisps etc etc ,I'm 5.4 and was about 8 St .4 . ..coming off the chocolate was the worst ever sweat was pouring off Me for about 30 mind. .I assumes it was all the crap coming out my system but felt fine after about 30 mind  ..I am not on any meds as yet 1st appointment 8th Oct. .my question is I'm losing weight I'm now just over 7 and a half stone ? Even my parents are noticing..I have never really been below 8 St. It's making me panic and I'm tempted to eat stuff I shouldn't to help gain weight ...This has only been happening since I stopped the crap ,now eating fruit ,veg etc ... I haven't even told anyone yet and feel to depressed and anxious  to exercise..any help would be greatly appreciated feeling very alone thanks in advance😐 Dx

danielle80398, I see that you have been recently diagnosed which is good because its possible for you to reverse the diabetes and not have to go on medication for Diabetes which is the next stage. I disagree with a lot of what you have been told and I speak from experience having been diabetic for 15 years. You need to test daily before a meal and 2 hours after. This will tell you your sugar levels but more important it will tell you which foods are giving you high sugar. Stop eating choclates and anything which has added sugars in it, Carbohydrates such as Potatoes, Rice, Bread and flour products of all sorts like Pasta. In fruits do not eat bananas and grapes. Your best friend is Apples...I suggest you eat one 3 times a day. Whatever diet you follow never go hungry. Start with the abouve and see how you feel after a couple of weeks.

Very happy for you given the impact that the initial diagnosis had on you. You sounded really stressed by it ! You have had a loud warning shot across your bows and it is down to you now to keep things under control... and you indulged in bananas & grapes !  Good luck.

Thank you everyone biggrin I didn't  test either it's only now I'm testing cause he wants me off all meds as thinks I'm too low ...my docter is a diabetes specialist so quiet lucky to have him as my doc...I thought it was the end of the world when I was diagnosed and such a miserable future ahead ..He told me off for stopping everything overnight but hey look who's off meds! I was tested for type 1 and 1.5 a 6 weeks ago and all was negative ..I really do think exercise is the key like you all said ..but I also know I'm lucky 😊the weight loss my docter thinks was more from anxiety then met as was weeing all night yet my sugars were low so it's true stress plays a major part ...hoping I can keep off the meds for good and start putting some weight back on ,what a year can't wait till this year is over !!! Good luck you lovely people I'll keep. You updated xx

Hi Danielle,  Just going to your question about exercise you can do.  I have just had an operation that means I cannot for the time being use stairs.  My husband has been running up and down to the office for me as I am spending time doing my accounts.  We have estimated he is only doing this about 10 times up and 10 times down and he has in only a week started to show weight loss particularly around the middle which is where us diabetics need to lose it.  It is so noticeable I am going to try this when I am back on my feet.  It is good aerobic exercise as well so also good for the heart.  He says after the first couple of days he found the stairs much easier too.  I hope this might give you a little bit of help.  He did not do this all in one go but spaced out over the day.
