Diagnosed with Drusen of optic nerve

I was diagnosed a few years ago with Drusen of both optic nerves. In a routine eye exam. I have been seeing a specialist that has prescribed Latanaprost which is for glaucoma although my pressures were fine...other than that I've been seeing him every 6 months at a cost of $250. Per visit. And nothing changes.. the prescription remains the same,  so should I get another opinion,I feel like I'm paying him to do nothing, all the info I have read said their is no treatment for Drusen...thoughts thanks..

Drusen is tiny deposits on the retina around the optic nerve. If these become really troublesome they can be lasered.    Maybe your specialist is just making sure your pressures dont rise but this isnt a treatment for drusen.      Is your specialist using you in a dugs trial?   Personally I would seek another opinion, although there are limited treatments as you have found out.  Long term monitoring by a qualified specialist is essential though.   You could try taking lutein in tablet form....this is available without prescription and although it wont cure you it may help to delay any deterioration.

Thanks  Marina..I didn't even know they could be lasered...

he is supposed to be a good Opthalmologist, my daughter works for him in theatre.

i am not on any drug trial of any sort. Just the glaucoma drops that's it.
