Diagnosed with ENDO but no symptoms

Hi all!

I'm 24, about 2 yrs ago my doc operated and removed the cyst (that was NOT bothering me) and while operating also found that i had stage 3 endo. 2 years before that i had a VERY painful cyst but it went away on it's own.

HOWEVER, I have NEVER had any endo symptoms. My periods are so light and painless that I forget I have it. My period has only ever bothers me like 5x in my whole life, and it was usually always back pain, nothing related to my stomach. Honestly, i am convinced i don't have endo. the only time i ever think about it is when i see commercials for endo research and meds.

Has this ever happened to anyone? My biggest concern is keeping my endo as calm as it's been. I just hope it doesn't like kick in out of no where. I do hope to have kids one day as well

    Dear Ann:

While i am thrilled for you that you don't have major symptoms, i am sorry to have to tell you that endo is a treacherous disease. It can rage along and it can creep more silently than the most skilled cat burglar.

Your description matches my symptoms in the 1st 6 yrs of menstrual cycles, ages 10-16. At that point i went on '60s (mega-strength) BCP for a number of years. Just a little low back pain, easily remedied w/back-ab exercises, was my only symptom while on BCP. When i came off, everything began getting worse. The best, most pain-free month i had was between my diagnostic-only lap & my total hysterectomy 5 or 6 wks later.

After that, no symptoms for 27 years and then KAPOW! 4 months of intestinal agony, docs & surgeons & GI & radiologists all thought diverticulitis. Another massive abdominal surgery where i lost about 8" of my colon to endo -- no diverticulitis.

But other women have such mild cases that they get into their 40s w/o knowing they have it. If i were you, i'd go to the best endo specialist that i could find & see what they say.

I hope your inside matches the symptoms so that nothing ever progresses or worsens & you have a pain-free life w/as many healthy kids as you want.
