Diagnosed with Fibro 4 1/2 yrs now sent to pain specialist and he thinks it's the T12-L1 hern disc

I am very frustrated because I had to quit my job because of the pain, couldn't concentrate and was making mistakes. I was written up at this job and never written up in 42 years of working. I have had the symtoms of Fibro and this all happened after a hernia surgery(rather 3 hernia's done). The pain specialist asked me how I was positioned in surgery, like how would I know when I'm under. So he thinks I have a T12-L1 herniated disc at looking at theThoracolumbar junctions. Why after this many years and so many MRI's has no one even mentioned this or even detected this! I am so upset and frustrated. I go Friday to file for disabilty with the diagnosis of Fibromyalgis and go from there. What does anyone think of this? I have had pain under the one hernia area forever and I always thought the Dr. that did the surgery maybe hit a main nerve that caused these issues. But as I say now, this Dr of pain specialist thinks different. Sorry to say so much.

Yes I have been going to Rheumatologist (in fact 2) after all this happened. I will be seeing the Dr for a follow up Nov 7th after another MRI. I don't understand how so many physicians could have possibly missed something this important. Right now on holding on to my faith to get me through. Thank you about the recommending spine specialist at age 60 I don't want people to just have me be their guinee pig. My girlfriends son had something bee similar and they did a procedure and know his pain is worse than a cancer patient. Well thanks again. Up at 2am with pain so decided to look at the internet. Have a blessed day!

You can get a copy of your mri and xrays on a computer disc that you can look at or can pass on to anyone who may treat you. It's amazing how much you can learn when you have pain and need to resolve it.

    1. Get a copy of all your medical records, doctors notes and imaging as far back as you can go. This is vital for both your sanity and your disability case.

    2. Get a second opinion. If your doc has an issue with that, he's not the right doctor for you.

    3. You are in the situation you are in. Find ways to be in control. Learn about stress, both conscious and subconscious. It affect you more than you know. Taking control of your knowledge and even making little changes will help you get through this. And don't catastrophize the future. If things suck, they suck. Imagining that they will already put you in a fight or flight mode for no damn reason. Fear and anxiety are just our imaginations.

Thank you for reminding me of being in control. Yes I do have my old MRI' s and other information. He didn't want to see older ones.

That's funny. I have a problem with doctors picking and choosing what medical records they want. They'll take MRIs, but info on a blunt chest muscular trauma, fibro and adrenal fatigue don't seem to matter. I do keep it short, just major documents.

Lol. I either say. Well, you're taking them anyway. OR I say, if you want those you have to take them all. One time that didn't work so I showed up with 12 folders of records. The doc decided to look at the other 3 damn pages I wanted him to see in the first place. Lol. It's all about giving them a choice to go with the easier option.

It's helped in life too. It's a bit manipulative but it's not like I'm using it for evil or something.

Since that Dr didn't have my current information from the Rheumatologists, why it wasn't in my records and he didn't want to see what I had. After I received his notes in the mail I called my regular dr no records from Rheumo Dr! So them I called Rheumo Dr and asked them to fax and I'm going to mail or go in person and hand deliver them to the pain specialist  Can't trust anyone having the proper information. We have to me advocates for ourselves!

Went to Pain Specialist and he seemed a little baffled after all the tests come back so I think my Fibromyalgia will stay plus spinal stenosis, now Spondylolisthesis, accute Tachycardia counts also according to the lady at SSDI and I have disc degeneration going on. Hopefully all the doctors when they respond it will be positive not a negative. Four months before they even will get to the paper work first time, but I rehired the lawyer from before. Thanks for caring! I love this site, it helps so much to relate with others that have the same thing. Take care!

Hi, I was finished from work on ill health this week. They didn't seem to want to know about the fibromyalgia but finished me due to my epilepsy. Don't suffer with seizures but the medication is knackering. Now the fibromyalgia diagnosis and medication has finished me off. I have been classed as disabled for about 20 years due to the epilepsy i think this is why it was a little easier for me to finish work. Years ago you had to register as disabled but you no longer have to register. Do you mean you are applying for an assessment for pip. If you are good luck as i know it can be a battle.

I don't know if you live in the states but if not is PIP for help when you are disabled. I know how you feel, but them finishing you about epilepsy is strange. Do you get any money from the goverment to help you live. I am just working on trying to get my disabily. It's a long process in the states, I appled Oct 31 and with a disability date of 9/27/14. I had to fo to the office for a one on one, but I rehired by old lawyer when I tried once before and was denied so went back to work. Couldn't afford to quit, now using money I never wanted to touch, but have to do what you have to do. Take care!!
