Diagnosed with hsv2 but have large painful lump too

I was diagnosed with hsv 2 about a month ago. My first(?) outbreak was just five small sores around my clit or is, the doctor put me on acyclovir for five days, taking five tablets a day. They seemed to clear up and I started to feel normal again. However, within a week the intense itching and subsequent sore broke out, and this time they are much more vicious, bigger and painful. This has been on going for nearly three weeks now.

I'm now of day four of five of my acyclovir but I feel worst than ever! My sores aren't actually that painful anymore, however where the sores are/were there are huge painful swellings. There is one to the right of my anus that is the size of a peanut M & M. Its quite hard, hot to touch and constantly aching and incredibly painful. I've woken up this morning feeling very flu like too.

Is this classic HSV 2? Or is it something more sinister? Any help or relaI am not sure if you are around let me know if you need to come to the bright side of the world eh the the the the the ted stories would be so greatly appreciated!

I take generic valtrex (valacyclovir) 1gm tablets when I feel like I'm about to have an outbreak. I found out I had hsv 2 in August so I've been doing the suppressive therapy method since my stress levels are high right now. Which means I basically take my medicine everyday. I also changed my diet. I take multivitamins every day and lysine everyday. I've been eating a lot cleaner, lots of veggies and berries and vitamin filled foods. Drink lots of water and try to minimize your stress. I know that will be difficult right now but do your best. I'm currently fighting an outbreak but my stress levels and sleep schedule have been bad lately so I know you that is prob why. Just try to stay positive and be responsible. Do your research and remember that this is a common skin condition and things will get better in time.

Thanks for getting back to me. I do think stress and fast living are why my symptoms are going on for so long. But, its this flu-like feeling thats really worrying me.

Do you ever get swellings? I've got swelling in my groin as well now I've just noticed. Is this normal? And why is it happening now?

I haven't noticed any swellings but everyone is different. Before I started my medicine and natural treatments, there was a lot of pain and itching and discomfort. I would call your obgyn or doctor and ask them if the swelling is normal. It doesn't sound too alarming but if you are in pain then you should try to see if there's a solution. Make sure you're staying clean and dry too. That makes a difference as well.

Hi, I have heard that people have had flu like systems with herpes. Swelling on the other hand not so sure. I haven't experienced that, I did end up with noticeable hearing loss though. I had this virus for 10 years, and 3 yrs ago I start eating more healthy and EXERCISING. When I tell you I have close to no outbreaks, I mean it. I can count on one hand how many times I had to my meds. Since then. Oh yeah take vitamins.  Your immune system isn't that strong anymore once you contract the virus. Keep living, smiling & laughing.

My symptoms were dormant for years and years, I got an outbreak decided to go the doctor for medication. Once I took the medication it took a few weeks for my outbreak to heal up as well as I've had a break out every few weeks Since the medication. I've spent the last few months struggling without medication trying to figure out how to beat this without the costly and dangerous medication.  I think I've figured it out.
