Experiencing worst flare up ever!! Locum Dr not much good, havent been seen by gynecologist or dermatologist was told no point. Given Dermovate but can't  tollerate pain of applying it. Having bicarbonate of soda/coconut oil baths and applying vasseline and emuloid. Taking loads of painkillers now suspect cystitis also because of stinging and redness so trying over counter remedies. Sexual health clinic and A and  E don 't know what Lichen Sclerosis is!! This is awful.

Are you using dermovate/clobetasol cream or ointment?  The cream burned when I tried it, but the ointment did not, especially when applied immediately after a warm bath (soak for at least 15-20 minutes).  If it's the cream that hurts to apply, ask your doctor for the ointment instead.  It's more expensive, but it works so much better.

Ho Joyce, I have LS and I use a steroid cream called Trimovate, I've never heard of deemovate and can't understand why it's hurting everyone! Trimovate is absolutely fine, it made my symptoms totally dissapear (as well as keeping on top of my diet) I have worked my way down to just using the cream once/twice a week to keep the itch at bay. Also for any tears, lesions, fissures please people just do a salt water soaked cotton pad and wipe around the red sore area once or twice a day and it clears up quite quickly. Alongside this obviously make sure you're drinking plenty of water and have as low sugar diet as poss.

Looks like Trimovate and Demovate are nearly the same thing.  Both a Clobetasol cream/ointment yet Trimovate has two other ingredients added to it, one being Nystatin which is used for candida/fungal infections.  I have Triamsinolone cream with Nystatin added (much milder than clobetasol).  Sometimes I think the Nystatin is soothing.
