Diagnosis

Hi all!

They suspect me to have Chronic Pancreatitis.

I will have an MRI next Month and they are checking my stool.

My question is: What can they see on an MRI? And is it possible that they don't find anything, though I have chronic Pankreatitis?

Next question: What can they find in my stool, explaining Chronic Pankreatitis? And also here: Is it possible they do not find anything, while i have CP??

I am confused...

Thanks a lot for helping me!

    Hello gm,

it is often not definitive at first with CP. One deciding factor in determining whether you have it or not is calcifications on your pancreas. The MRI could show that. I had an EUS which is an internal ultrasound. It sounds to me like you have either CP, gallbladder issues or maybe even sphintor of oddi (SOD-look it up and read about it). And of course, there is no perfect test for any of those. Are you uncomfortable after eating anything or just fatty foods? In the beginning I would just have episodes triggered by fatty foods, but never horrific pain like with acute pancreatitis. But just bad enough, and usually with acid reflux. Now it's pretty constant pain in center and under rib cage, sometimes in back. Most people are helped by learning how to eat right. No alcohol, ever, no fat, no dairy,  at first then slowly introducing low fat and dairy if you can tolerate it.  Always eat small meals and read everything you can. One poster said magnesium and a probiotic with L-plantarum helped. I've also read that grape seed extract, and other antioxidants like curcumin can be helpful. But you have to be careful with cucurmin if there is a sphintor of oddi issue. Otherwise it's wonderful and great in general and has an anti cancer benefit. Read the blogs by 'The Healthy Guy" on pancreatitis. Just type it in . Very informative.

The stool tests show whether or not your pancreas is digesting fat ( I think!). They will show if you have a fat metabolism issue, which is indicative of CP and gallbladder issues. Ok then! Get better! It's hard to change the way you eat, but it's harder to be in pain. Blessings to you !

      Thanks a lot, Tolle4444.

That is exactly what I have. Feeling quit bad after eating fats (sometimes also big unfat meals). Sometimes together with little abdominal pains till the back and feeling extremely swolen sometimes. Just a few times I had this acute period in the night of unbearable pain.

Thank you for mentionnning thesphintor of oddi problems, never tought and read about that. I already heard from the greep see extract and curcuma, and also already taking it (till now I feel good smile. But do you know why Curcuma is not good with sphintor of oddi problems? By the way I also read that Ginger and Selenium are very good against Inflamation! Thanks for the blessings! Same for you, blessings..

Your MRI will allow them to see any inflammation of your pancreas as well as your gallbladder.  It can also see pancreatic cysts and gall stones.

The color of your stool can also confirm or rule out pancreatitis.
