Hi, im new to the site but looking for support.

4 years ago it all started. Painful periods is what I thought at first, but every month it got worse and worse. 18 months ago it resulted in defeat and went to the gps on 3 different occasions and they did nothing and was told 'it's called being a woman' . I gave up!!! Didn't go back!!!

Until 6 months again it got so bad I NEEDED help. They sent me for a scan and was told I had fluid above my uterus. Refered. In the last month I had a hycosy, internal and 3 blood tests. I now been told that my left tube I blocks but everything else looks ok so it's endometriosis and I'll need a laposopy.

Will this help with the pain i have every month that brings me to tears and b early able to walk.

Feeling apprehensive, scared and very low at the moment.

Hi. I was same and a good specialist surgeon will be able to get most out. My first lap did give me pain relief but it will depend on your age, circumstances etc what happens long term. Ie if you still want children etc. The operation is really fine I promise. You go to sleep and moments later you are waking up. They will keep on top of any pain relief and I was back to noal within a few weeks. I was petrified as it was my first op at the time. Endo doesn't show up well on scans. my chocolate cyst on ovary on my scan turned out to be endo that had fused my womb, bladder and bowel so that's why pain so bad. Good luck with diagnosis. here if you want to ask any more

Thank you. I have 2 children already (11 and 7) and as I'm still only young there was talk about having another children. Doc said that best change is straight after the laposopy but if it's not the right time for us would rather wait. Can't deal with the pain thou until we decide to have our last child.

So confused. Pain and baby or no baby but no pain. Impossible decision

Hi. Yes I have two 15 and 12 but I was 39 at the time and we decided we'd have no more and I had full hysterectomy and oophorectomy. No pain but it comes with its own problems so not to be taken lightly at all. Just to let you know being pregnant helps the symptoms x

    Hi,

i had had lap on 8/13 and at that time the doc discovered the endometriosis. It was after two periods from hell that he decided to go in and see what was happening. I never had any pain and he said that was due to the endometriosis being located where it was. One chocolate cyst and another that was leaking yellow fluid. Gross!  Polyps on my uterus-it's a mess in there. He's hoping this will help and said it can be controlled with meds. However, the thought of being on birth control doesn't appeal to me.

Surgey was easy. No need to fret about that part. As fast as you fall asleep you're waking up the next moment. I would recommend a stool softener since pain meds are difficult on your system. I only took them for the first 36 hours and was fine after.  I went back to work after two weeks. Give yourself time to heal. Rest when you need to. Even though the surgery is minimal your body needs to recover. Don't over do it.

My husband has taken my children out today as I have so much pain. I hate days like today when I miss time with my children :-( but there's nothing I can go when it hurts so much I can't even cough.

2 weeks off work. Wasn't expecting that. Where you signed off? I have a very active job but wasn't expecting to hear 2 weeks off. How long was you actually in hospital for?

It's good to hear other people's experiences. Although I know they lots for affected by it, to hear it first hand makes me realise I'm not alone. Feels good to talk to people that understand. Think most people think it's a bad period.

Hi. It's normally a day case so you don't stay in. I was signed off two weeks for lap and 6 weeks when I had hysterectomy by the hospital because I work in office. If you have a physical job it maybe more than two weeks. Make the most of it as after a few days I was relatively pain free 😁

I asked the doc to put me off work prior to surgery since my period was so miserable. I originally thought I would go back to work after one week post op. However, at the end of that first week I realized that if I went back I would have been miserable. Even putting on clothes drove me up the wall. My stomach was so sensitive to having anything resting against it. I work in an office. If your job is active you may need additional time off. I came home shortly after surgery was over the same day. Don't be afraid to ask for sleeping pills too if need be. My body clock was messed up and I had difficulties staying asleep for a few nights.

    Update

Had a bad month this month. Aches and pains, sore hips, back ache, mild stabbing in lower abdomen, lightheaded, headaches, very tired. And all after period and before ovulation. Feeling very low.

Still waiting for a date and feel like no one understands and can't talk to everyone.

Just wished to say my feelings somewhere
