Hi all. Last August 2017, i had a hysterectomy with ovaries conserved. i immediately began to lose weight afterwards. Since that time i have lost 68 pounds without trying. February of this year i had a severe anaphylatic reaction to peppermint which triggered underlying asthma we did not know i had. i was put on lots pf steroids and given BREO 200 a day. Pulmonary functioning initially improved but then began to drop significantly. Meanwhile Im battling severe depression and anxiety that i already have and am on medication for but is getting worse, irritiability, complete loss of libido, extreme fatigue, body and muscle aches and some memory problems. i saw my PCP, he did labs and AM cortisol, prolactin and testosterone came back abnormal. then referred to endo. Endo did more labs. AM cortisol off again and DHEA abnormal. Sent for ACTH stim testing after having to come off steroids for asthma treatment for 2 weeks. All results were within normal limits. I follow up up with endo in two weeks to find out whats next. im having MRI brain this week because he wants to check my pituitary gland as i also have intracranial hypertension. Ive done alot od research bit quite frankly there isnt alot out there. Im thinking finding real peoples expierences might be my best option. i want to go into my dr appointment prepared to fight for myself because i KNOW something is wrong with me. ANY advise anyone can give i would be so greatful for. Im a nurse so this makes it even more frustrating that I cant figure more out!

Sorry to hear all that... I am not a professional, only a person with several health problems who has researched this and that and the other... When you had the ACTH stim test, were you taking steroids? I had this problem. The test results are distorted if you one is on steroids; should you ask the endocrinologist to check you thyroid gland? Low thyroid hormones and adrenal problems symptoms are similar. This serious allergy to peppermint !!! which kind of peppermint had you taken to trigger that was it oil? or herbal tea? your immune system is out of whack I think...

Hey cool. Thanks for responding. No, I was not on any steroids when i had the testing done. I had to stop the BREO, which is a steroid two weeks prior to the testing. Ive had full thyroid testing done along with tons of other hormones that were all normal besides the ones i mentioned in the original post. All i have to do is smell peppermint and I go into anaphylaxis. Lungs completely shut down. Other mints give me more local reactions but my pulmonologist thinks they are harming my lungs too, just on a slower scale. I imagine if I were to ingest it, it would kill me pretty quickly.

I guess you have you have had tests for allergies have you not. There is a thing with tests in my experience: about thyroid tests, what the doctors think 'they are ok', but I have lots of symptoms. My endocrinologists seems to work towards getting those results and gives me the amount of medication to achieve that. But if I do what he tells me to do, just to tell you one of the things I get is 55 pulsations per minute. If I take more of the medication he does not like, I feel great!, and I have around 70 pulsations per minute, but the blood tests are not 'ok' according to the doctor's view. What I mean by all this is that perhaps it is better if you can afford it to have a second opinion with a holistic, functional, integral specialist. The mainstream doctors only look at 'what they can prescribe'... if it is not ''prescribable'' (I made up that word) they do not want to know anything about it. What do you think? I almost died in June 2015 and since then I have been doing lots of research, I learnt that most of the info in Internet is rubbish. Even PubMed. Pub Med are very much behind keeping up with scientific research. 2004, 2002, 2009 ... So, what do you think is your problem? My previous GP wanted to treat my lungs with medications you breathe into your lungs saying I had COP I think it i called. She even gave me a puffer with something for me to use. There is nothing wrong with my lungs, I am short of breath due to my horrible gut disbyosis , inflammation, bloating, obesity around the middle of my body. I'd read and find answers in internet about blood tests results and their INTERPRETATION... it is hard work. But very important is what is your gut feeling about what you have?

I really dont know. All my gut feeling is saying is that something is not right and to keep searching. Pending what my endocrinologist says next week and what the MRI shows tomorrow, I will be requesting a referral for the Mayo Clinic. I have been wondering if my thyroid or parathyroid levels could be testing normal but it being incorrect since so many of my symptoms suggest that. Yes, Ive had skin and blood allergy testing.

It will be very interesting to see the results of the MRI. What I meant by allergy testing is those tests IgG and IgA and IgE, those tests, more in line with autoimmune diseases. I live in Australia by the way. The difference in the time is very big...
