Diagnosis help needed

Could any one please help with some advice please.
I am 38 and have had pain in my joint pretty much all my life (told it was growing pains)
I have had investigations for RA in the past as I test positive for rheumatoid factor and CRP and ESR are both raised.
I have recently had back MRI and wondered is they show signs of arthritis:
Degenerative disc disease in cervical spine
Fatty marrow deposits in thoracic spine
Thickening of facet joint and ligaments in lumber spine and 3 bulging discs.
I also have very painful heels and swollen Achilles.
Just wanting advice as seen of being fobbed off. Does this sound like any form of arthritis or just normal ageing?

Emma the cervical issues sound like osteoarthritis, which I have. Fatty marrow haven't dealt with. Good Dr, Arthritis, should diagnose. I've had Radiologists where they have be steered in right direction. You ever been told feet could have Gout? Form of arthritis easily checked. Good luck, with pos RF and elevated inflammation something going on. Best

Hi no not been told I have gout- I thought it was just your big toe affected by that? Mine is my heel and Achilles that's affected. I thought blood showed something which is why I don't want to be fobbed off any more. Am going to ask for another referral to rheumatology I think.

Thank you for replying. I was discharged for rheumatologist prior to having my back MRI. But they just said I had hypermobility and fibromyalgia. I have gabapentin and amitriptyline prescribed. I just don't want to be fobbed off and then get progressively worse and not on correct treatment. I feel my symptoms fit AS too.

Yeah I have IBS but no eye issues. I'm hoping it's not AS but I don't want to ignore it if it is just for things to get worse.

Emma Hi, missed part of your read in my last response. Disc degenerative disease is kinda aging issue I've had quite few years (62 now). Have couple with slight bulging. Osteoarthritis kind goes along with same. Ted commented on a lot of good points. I would suggest you bring up to your Dr get blood work for mixed tissue disease. Simple blood work, ANCA marker and couple others to diagnose. Seems like I went in circles until blood work confirmed MCTD. Lot of treatment same as AS unless other organs involved. Best

Ted on Cosentyx, just started three weeks ago. Was on Humira. My Dr had me go on vitamin D, calcium (1000mg with magnesium and zinc. 1 pill). Ha've osteoarthritis in back and neck. Was taking Prolia shot build bones. Take 15000 IU D/day, get in 40's on blood work for vitamin d. Since following Drs guideline I'm now off Prolia drug. Bones good according to scan. She told me not good keep taking shot when bone density goes to normal. If you have AS get vitamin D checked. At 10000 iu day I was at bottom of lab spec. Everybody different. Feel better since on Bit D supplement. Cheap to take. Best

Hi Emma,
I had AS for a number of years, and ultimately found that all my aches, pains, stiffness and joint fusion were symptomatic of a larger problem, systemic inflammation driven by a life-long pattern of poor diet. Doctors will treat your arthritis with any number of drugs, but for me they all came down to immunosuppressants. While that helped, I was still left with all the other issues like low thyroid, GERDS, etc. Fortunately I did enough research to see the connection between eating habits and development of disease. I corrected my diet, have been off all drugs for 8 years, have perfect blood work, and skateboard every day at age 54. Here are the culprits:
1. Gluten (wheat, flour, rye, barley) is an indigestible protein that triggers the immune system and causes gut inflammation, allowing toxins to enter the bloodstream. Gluten antigens also cross react with tissues in the body like the thyroid and pancreas. I had to be gluten-free.
2. Lectin (gluten's big brother) attaches to cell membranes in the joints, causing inflammation. Lectins are in most foods, so only low lectin foods chould be eaten.
3. Sugars and processed foods are highly inflammatory and acidic. I stick to limited amounts raw organic honey.
4. Alkalinity - I learned I needed to balance acidic foods (meats, nuts, sugar) with alkeline foods (greens, magnesium, etc.).
5. Dairy is extremely inflammatory. Go coconut mike.
6. Processed oils rancid quickly, and create trillions of free radicals that strip your cells of electrons. Go coconut oil, palm oil, or fats in their natural state. 1/3 of your oils should come from omega 3 (flax seed, fish, etc.).
Here is my daily mainstays (always organic):
1. Pitcher of raw veggie smoothie with a lemon.
2. Can of wild caught sardines or fresh salmon.
3. One sweet potatoe.
4. Two eggs.
5. 4 oz of berries.
6. 1 apple.
7. 4 oz hamburger patty or chicken.
8. Couple tablespoons of almond butter (without sugar) and raw honey, or similar low lectin nuts (walnuts, macadamia, etc.).
A colonic detox is super helpful too. Main idea here is to heal your gut. Two days on the right foods and you will see immediate results. NO CHEATING!!!
Best thoughts...Bobbie
