Hi - I have ibs-d but been under control the past couple of years - however the past 4 days I have had diarrhoea with stomach pains the other day - every time I eat something I have to go straight to the toilet - I have read that a lot of people had diarrhoea for a few days with covid 19 before the other symptoms showed and I am now freaking out - my anxiety is up at the moment but now more so not sure if this is IBS or not. I dont have a fever or persistent cough - do you think its just my anxietyor something worse this is the 4th day of feeling like this - thanks

I'm sorry I can't give you an absolute answer on this but I have had the same. Went on for a few weeks and now stopped within the last couple of days. I think that what helped me was buscopan and dioralyte. Try not to panic. I know it's scary - everything is scary at the moment. Try to stay calm, call your doc if you need to, they are still doing phone consultations and also 111 are there if you need reassurance.

As someone who has suffered with anxiety and stomach/diarrhoea problems for the past 12 years, I can say that anxiety and diarrhoea have a very strong link. Whenever my anxiety is particularly bad my stomach plays up and I spend a lot more time on the toilet. If you don't have any other symptoms then chances are it's just anxiety or maybe even an unrelated bug you've caught or a bit of food poisoning or even a random IBS flare up. I wouldn't worry about it too much, but keep an eye on your symptoms for the next few days just to be sure. Diarrhoea is a very rare symptom of COVID-19. You could also try Imodium for the diarrhoea if it's bothering you.

Hi Hepzee39 If you are anxious too much then that will cause you too have IBS-D .I get that problem allot and also that causes you too get stomach cramps .I take buscopan for that and it helps allot.I also take Citropram which although is an anti -depressant help my ibs and ibs-D.As far as i know diarrhoea is not a symptom of covid 19 you would know if you had or have Covid19 because you would have sore throat and warm to the touch of front and back of your body.I am sure that your ibs-D is due to you getting anxious and your brain telling you something else
