Hi every one,
I am on Cit for depression, panic attacks and pariona i was presribed Diaz for a short period of time while my daughter was on a school trip and i was worried sick, it being her 1st time away from home she is only 8yrs old.
The 1st night after a really day of worrying i took 10mg and passed out asleep after a few hours, i felt hazy and strange before i went to sleep and i felt i could block out the bad thoughts. the 2nd night i took the same dose and nothing i couldnt sleep and my mind was racing so i took another 5mg. i ended up staying awake all night.
I find if i drink i can sleep but i am trying to stay away from booze as i can let it get out of hand, I really need a goods nights sleep I will do anything not to be so bone tried but unable to nap off.
If any one has any idea why it worked one day and not the next i would be greatfull for any suggestions.
I didnt take it on the 3rd night as i was happy my baby was home and could rest. Last night (day 4) i opted for getting drunk and ended up not sleeping as i was out until 2am then an hour of arguing with my husband.
tonight i have had no booze and 5mg i dont feel sleepy at all. I dont want to take to much as i am worried that the alchole still in my blood from last night might have an effect.
I am back to the doc's on Thursday as i feel i will colaps of exstortion in the not on far future.
All sleeping remidies welcome if you have any ideas
Kind regards to all

It sounds like the citalopram may not be effective yet, how long have you been taking it? I tried it last year and it had little effect. I am now on fluoxetine which although is in its early stages helps calm me down some of the time. I too couldnt sleep more than 3 hours a night for over a month. My GP has put me on zopiclone recently which seems to be helping.
Everyone says alcohol is a depressant, i have tried it frequently in the past, just to sleep. Things are bad enough in my life, the hangover the next day doesnt improve life!
If you look on the fluoxetine experiences you may find some useful suggestions, never be afraid to confront your demons, they will only get the better of you if you let them. Think my counsellor told me that!
I do think your first call should be with your GP.
Let me know how you get on?

I have been on cit for nearly 6 months now on 40mg.
I sleept last week alittle but that was due to a health problem now i am back to normal a couple of hours max then i am padding around the house.
I am going back on tusday next week but i am running out of diaz and i know they are not going to give me anymore which is a shame even less sleep to come.
Hope you are well
