diazepam withdrawel

Hello wonder if any you have been getting reduced off diazepam i have been on 40 mg s day for 20 years but was told by my doctor everyone that had been on Valium for a long period had to be slowly withdrawn off i get withdrawn at 1 mg a month n am now on 26 mg a day but have noticed a severe change in my mood anyone else had these side effects thanks ......john

    You are gonna have side effects. This is an addictive drug and not good for any of us. I was on Lorazepam for 20years. Equivalent to 30 mg of diazepam. It took me 5 months. But now I am 4 months off and sleep pretty well. The first few months are a little off an on but eventually I slept. Just do your best and slowly taper like the Ashton's Manual says. Google the manual and maybe that will make you feel a little better knowing how the real professionals suggest doing it. Keep us posted please. Best of luck. Ruby S
