Hi Sam,
I certainly had these symptoms when going through mono, I had one particular nasty swollen and painful lymph node on the right hand side of my neck which worried me a lot. I eventually got an ultra-sound on it which showed that it was a 'reactive' gland, which simply meant that it was a gland reacting to the virus of the mono. This can be so common when going through mono so try not to worry or panic, I know it's hard though, and of course defo worth checking with the doc and if it's persistent maybe asking for an ultrasound like they did for me. But in the vast majority of cases lymph nodes in the neck can be swollen and painful during mono but then settle down and return to normal as you start to recover - it took a bit of time for mines to settle down but it did with time, so hang in there.
I also had strange pains and aches in different muscles and joints at different times too during the virus, and also in the upper chest area - that is a common area to get hit because it's where so many glands are. I really do empathise Sam, your body takes a real beating through this. I found it so tough to cope with and just wanted you to know I'm thinking about you and to let you know that there IS recover and there IS good and full health after mono, believe me there is Sam and even if it takes a little time to get to full recovery don't panic because you will get there and all these symptoms will settle, I believe that and believe that God is the great healer - I know it was only down to Him I was able to get through mono and get back to good health as I was so unwell and frightened and drained during it.
Thinking about you Sam and hang in there - you ARE going to be well again and get the breakthrough you are looking for with this - truly I believe that. Hoping for a much better period ahead and for these horrible symptoms to settle down. Just one day at a time with this dreaded virus, and remember to be kind to yourself and to look after yourself - your body goes through such a rough time with this as well as your mind and emotions, so just remember to be understanding to yourself and to talk about how you're feeling too with someone you trust if you are able to - that helped me so much during recovery I was very lucky to have good family and friends there for me, I don't know what I would have done without them.

Hi Sam,
Just where you're pointing is pretty much EXACTLY where the lymph node that bothered me was too. Just want to encourage and reassure you that this can be a VERY common lymph node to get affected during mono, and that in the vast majority of cases it does settle down completely with time and as you start to get better. Definitely do check in with the doc though to check it out and hoping that they can put your mind at ease with this too and offer reassurance / good advice.

I have stomach back and chest pain. Lots of test and scans and they say i am okay. My lymph under my left side jaw gets sore sometimes especially if i keep pressing on it and feeling of it. I just hope you feel better than me. I can do stuff but have to really moderate it and its a coin flip everyday on the other symptoms as they come and go. If you can still function normally besides being tired that is a great thing .

well, went to the doctor and asked for a mono test. he pretty much said there's no point because it'll only show if I've had it at some point. he pretty much blew off all my symptoms and said they're all from anxiety.

Hi Sam,
So sorry to hear that the doctor just seemed to dismiss things like this, it is so frustrating this and believe me Sam if it is mono that you're dealing with and it certainly could be all the symptoms you are experiencing, these symptoms are not from anxiety and are real and from this dreadful virus. It's so dismissive and arrogant of doctors to dismiss things without investigating them properly, even if possible to see another (hopefully better) doctor for another opinion Sam that is definitely worth doing, and even taking someone along with you for support because I know how tough it can be facing up to doctors and trying to say what you want to say when you only get a few minutes with them.
Hang in there Sam, you are going to get better and get through this, I still believe that. Still trusting in God with that, He knows more than all the doctors and is our great healer and loves us - He has amazing plans for your future Sam and wants you well for that, I truly believe that.
Hoping today can be a better today and remember message any time.

Hi Josh,
It's a good analogy kind of feeling like you're hungover with this virus, you feel so beaten up and drained and horrible. It's so frustrating when doctors try to dismiss this virus or minimise how awful, intense and traumatic an experience it can be. Anxiety and depression are common things with the virus because of how it affects you, but it's not the root cause of the physical illness which is the virus, which is truly real and physical.
Hoping so much that the changing of your job role / duties soon can help take a bit of pressure off you and help with your recovery Josh - hang in there you are going to get better man, God is working and even if the manifestations of recovery can't be seen right now, they will be - stay strong and hold onto hope.

Also meant to say Sam that can be a very common symptom with mono that feeling weird in the head and finding it hard to function / concentrate. It's a terribly frightening thing and just want to reassure you that this is something that people can go through with this but that it lifts as you start to feel better - taking vitamins / herbs can help with this, especially B vitamins / co-enzyme Q10 / good strong multi-vitamin / higher doses of Vitamin C.
