Did I almost faint? not sure what happened or why

Hi, I had an episode around the end of last year and and had no idea what happened, but it was the most terrifying thing i ever experienced.

I was in bed, i woke up in the night to my thumb throbbing since I had cut it earlier in the day so i went to the bathroom to wash it (didnt feel much better, don't like blood). when i was done i went to sit on my bed, and this sudden rush of nausea came out of nowhere so i had to get to the bathroom, but as i was walking i felt like my heart had stopped (then more nausea followed) so then i was leaning over the toilet, so dizzy i could not see a thing and could not stand up at all mum tried lifting me but i needed to stay on the floor. she called the ambulance but by that time everything had calmed down by me laying face down on the ground and my breath had come back. can anyone tell me what this was?

I'm an 18 year old girl with anxiety

Sounds exactly like a vasovagal response, look it up.  Very comon to sight of blood +other things, Suden drop of blood pressure and heart rate.  I fainted from vertigo problems on street did a lot of damage to face teeth etc. now I have several drs. checking everything.  No need to be anxious.

Certainly talk to your Dr about this, but it does sound vasovagal to me as well. Make sure you are not getting dehydrated, that can lower your blood pressure. If you naturally have low bp, ask your Dr about consuming a little more salt. That's what my neuro told me to do since the migraine med I am taking causes low blood pressure. She said to do that if I am faint.

BTW, what happened to you happened to me years ago- I had a few glasses of wine, and went into a very hot hottub. When I stood up to get out, I got very nauseous, dizzy, and passed out cold. Classic vasovagal response!

When you said you couldn't see anything for a minute, I immediately thought of a migraine aura. Do you have headaches? One thing that can happen right before you get the actual headahce is that weird things happen in your brain that can make vision very low becasue of flashing lights that appear. It only lasts about 15 minutes with me, but it's scary if you don't know what it is. I hope you find the cause. Feel better!
