Did I have a heart attack?

I have intense anxiety and I started medicine for it about a month ago. (Buspar twice daily) Most of that anxiety is related to medical problems I think I have. My family has a history of heart related problems. My father has heart disease, diabetes, blood pressure problems, and ect. I’ve had heart palpitations before and they usually only happen one at a time, the other night at work I had several strong ones at once taking my breath away. Since then the middle of my chest has hurt and I have palpitations when I lay down at night. Did I have a heart attack? I just had an EKG less than a month ago and they said nothing was out of the ordinary, is it just my anxiety? I’m a fairly healthy 22 year old with no prior conditions, never even had any surgeries. Only been in the hospital once when I was 11 for pneumonia.

    Mikes,

It could be your anxiety is bringing on the palpitations, this is quite common.

Ectopic Beats may also be the occasional bumps in the chest you feel, especially at night laying in bed. These are also common and not easily detected no identified.

At 22 I suggest you stay active, eat a healthy diet and stop worrying you'll run into heart problems. It may be years before you do, and you may not have any problems at all.

Look for relaxation exercises to help calm your anxiety when it starts. I also suffer it but control it with breathing deep and slow when a moment bites me. Before long I'm relaxed and the moment has passed.

It may or may not work for you, worth a try.

At anytime, if in doubt stay close to your GP for help and advice.

    Best of British to you.
