Did your GERD come about during a stressful time in your life?

After evaluating the events that preceded me getting diagnosed with GERD, I finally figured out that my GERD was mainly caused by the amount of stressors I had in my life. The heartburn faded once I allowed myself to relax on the weekends. I've followed some videos on CBT, meditation and diaphragmatic breathing to manage my anxiety. The only symptom I have left is a slight tightening of the throat whenever I think of stressful thoughts. There are still some foods that I can't eat at the moment because they irritate my throat and stomach (oily and spicy food), but I not reliant on taking my famotidine before meals. Has anyone else dealt with stress-induced acid reflux?
