I Am only the merry go round of LP. Off prednisone 5 days and it comes back in my mouth hands and vulva. I was trying and still am trying a shot of wheatgrass every am, priobiotic yogurts and super 8 priobiotic capsules. Have been doing this for three weeks and symptoms got worse so doctor has put me on steriods again...20mg as apposed to 40mg the last time..I have been a naughty girl and am not taking them as I am trying to lose the stone in weight I put on during my last course.

I have read so many posts and now think if there id a connection between candida and Lp. I am thinking of going gluten free.....does this work?????

Please add 6000 units of Vitamin D supplements to your diet.  I did that last year and none of the sores have come back.  I take 3000 units with breakfast and 3000 units with dinner.  Vitamin D is for our immune systems and lichen planus is an auto immune disorder.

      Hi

Your reply sounds really interesting - I'm searching a resolution to my mums lichen planus in her mouth. She has had it in the past everywhere, but this time it's only in her mouth - last time changing her blood pressure meds also eased the abrasions but this time we can find no solution. Therefore what you write about vitamin D - did that stop - clear up the LP or has it just kept it at bay  or both ?

      Hi Sarah,

The 6000 units of Vitamin D every day has kept my mouth completely cleared up.  It's the best it's been in years.  The longer the sores stay away, the more back-to-normal my mouth feels.  Please try giving your mum at least 6000 units of Vitamin D a day.  It can't hurt even if it doesn't help.  Do you live where it is cloudy and overcast a lot?  Like I mentioned above -- Vitamin D strengthens our immune systems and Lichen Planus is an auto-immune condition.  Good luck!  Oh -- and I can eat ANYTHING I want now.  I used to avoid the foods mentioned by the other poster -- like tomatoes, fruit and anything spicey.  Now I can eat fruit again!
