Dietary help

Hi. Has anyone found a healthy eating plan that helps? Gluton free? Dairy free? Low carb? Or any other. Sorry if this has already been posted. Just curious and grateful for advice

From what I have read and tried there are no diets that seem to help one way or another. I think eating healthy in general is the best way to give your body a chance to recover but there is no miracle food that gives you an edge. If you eat well you do not need vitamin supplements but if you have a tendency to not eat healthy or have a lack of appetite supplements will fill in what your body needs. The only extra thing that  I take is vit D3 which most CFS sufferers seem to be always low in. Just my opinion.

I am on paleo diet for more than 4 years. I haven't been cured from my Myasthenia Gravis, nor from the general fatigue, but:

    1. I lost a lot of weight.

    2. I balanced sugar and blood pressure.

    3. I totally (!!!) stopped suffering from IBS, which was "a part of the CFS", according to my doctors... They NEVER mentioned the gluten as the optional cause of this condition, I found it myself.....

    4. My Intestinal absorption improved dramatically and after many years of Deficit, my B12 value is raising up, without any supplements.

    5. My blood fat picture is back to normal, especially the Triglycerides.

So, if you wish to improve your general body condition, I believe Paleo is THE answer!

When I first got this illness, a high protein diet made a huge difference. and the effects were evident immediately. I'd eat, say, a tuna sandwich, and would immediately feel more energetic. As the years have gone by, though, this doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

When I first became ill in 1995 I had foggy brain no concentration, pain in joints and muscles, dizziness, tingling and numbness in arms and legs , inner tremors thudding heart, palpitations, pain and discomfort in throat , jaw ,ear roof of mouth , sore throat, difficulty swallowing, terrible fatigue , a feeling of every thing going on around me but not being there , insomnia even tho I was so tired and facing every day with a struggle to even get out of bed and brush my teeth etc etc . For the first 6 weeks I had absolutely no appetite and never ate a single thing in that time only drank water juice and tea. My symptoms were exactly the same once I started eating again as when I ate nothing so I don't think a diet of any kind would help you to feel better whether I have the same illness or not !!!

Hi there, sorry for the late response and I don't know if it will be useful... It's just what I've experienced.

It was recommended that I go on a gluten free diet some time ago when doctors were trying to rule out causes of symptoms, then started it just over 6 months ago when I just didn’t know what else to do. For me it has definitely helped, and although there isn’t any research or anything to link the two, personally I find that keeping gluten out of my diet make me feel much livelier. I’ve tried putting it back in, but it makes me feel so vile and lethargic. I don’t think I could ever go back to having gluten.

It’s quite a big change to make, but honestly it’s worth a try. It’s just a process of elimination. If that doesn’t work then no worries, there’ll be something else you can try. Everyone’s body works and reacts differently. Good luck anyway, and I hope I was kind of helpful aha x
