Dietary points

Anybody have any points or foods that are reputed to be supportive or to be avoided while battling with PC?
I will set the ball rolling with:
water; the suggestion is that people generally do not drink enough water as water these days. Their bodies are chronically dehydrated and that may reduce the body's abily to remove toxins and fight infections including cancers. I tried drinking water and found as predicted that after a few days I felt thirsty more frequently than before.
broccoli: reputed to fight cancer
beetroot: reputed to fight cancer
Reputation seems about all that is available. There seem to be very few clinical studies on cancer and diet. Those there are at an early stage. Still I should be glad to have people's comments. I would rather be active than passive in battling my cancer even if it means eating my greens.

I read cooked tomatoes (and tinned) are high in Lycopene. Here is a link to some details but being honest haven't really studied diet and PC

I have low grade (Gleason 6) prostate cancer diagnosed in June 2014, and have read it cannot turn into a 7. I am in the UK and I am on active surveillance.
I don't eat much meat and have Linseed (Flax) every day. No doubt there will be some for/against theories for the above. https://www.oncologynutrition.org/erfc/healthy-nutrition-now/flaxseed-prostate-cancer-risk/
I stopped taking cod liver oil a while back as I read the 'against theories' My joints are not great now but is this just coincidence of stopping the CLO?

This is an interesting Facebook group if you use it!

Spinach Kills 61% of Pancreatic Cancer Cells in Vitro and Reduces Risk in People: Spinach contains a very unique compound called MGDG (monogalactosyl diacylglyercol) which is highly toxic to cancer cells because it disrupts their ability to replicate DNA..
If you don't use Facebook here is the article

Thank you Peter. That is so helpful. Sugar I am keeping to a minimum already because being on hormone treatment I don't want to put on a lot of flab (especially not in the womanly places). If it is also starving my cancers then I am getting double value - at least. The pH seems more difficult but I understand that it is easily tested with litmus strips. Off the top of my head meat except chicken breast tends to leave you more acid and veg and some fruits tend to make you more alkaline. So that is a way of hitting back at the cancer that can be measured objectively. Great to have something that is not part of a belief system.
I don't know much about genetically modified foods but I am strongly prejudiced against them anyway. We don't buy GM foods but I am not sure that we can avoid them. Are they always labled? Perhaps that chimes with your advice to avoid processed food. I do that anyway but it is to avoid the salt as I am on a low salt diet - doctor's orders.
You floored me with GO food so I looked that up and found it was carbohydrates. My wife now gives me only unrefined cereals, bread etc.. Fast carbs are out for me. I find I am missing them less and less. I was a bit tetchy at first. I liked it better when she boiled the brown rice for longer. She doesn't peel the potatoes any more. I am getting used to that too.
I don't understand about sugar range. Please would you expand that for me.

Some food charts consider fruits as citric acid. But, the mistake they make is not allowing for, once the food is mixed in the stomach (Chum), it becomes alkaline forming. you are correct getting potato skins are alkaline food.
Genetically modified foods are outlawed in a number of countries. It is believed that they contribute to cancer as well as other maladies. They use DNA of bugs in the seeds of plants. It is found that this DNA is deposited on and in our organs. Most corn today has Roundup in the seeds. This round up kills bugs, just imagine what it can do to us.

Whether Gleason 6 has a propensity to progress to higher-grade cancer is still under investigation - See more at: http://www.cancernetwork.com/oncology-journal/gleason-6-prostate-cancer-serious-malignancy-or-toothless-lion#sthash.l6dsv493.dpuf
