so i moved countries and here they don't have the old citalopram that i was using in UK. ive been on cit second time round now for 20 days and this is a second day i am taking different brand citalopram although doctor said it the same and it does have the same active ingredients. all the side effects are back such as headache, heightened anxiety, sick, no appetite feeling like going mad. its like taking new meds again. i cannot get the old brand i was using so should i just stick with the new brand and wait till it all settles again? this is horrible. any suggestions?

I was wondering about this myself. I have always lived in the US and I have taken Citalopram twice before for anxiety/ depression. The first time I started taking it was back when this drug first came on the market and the second time was about eight years ago. I never had any issues with side affects when starting on this med. I always started out at a low does and worked my way up and never exceeded 20mgs a day. My doctor decided to put me on Citalopram a few months ago because my anxiety came back after a death in my family. The side affects were unbearable, terrible PVC's, couldn't sleep at all and extreme heightened anxiety caused by the heart issues. I ended up going off them after eight weeks of pure hell and many trips to the ER. Does anyone know if they have changed this med over the years? Why all of a sudden would I have these issues when I didn't in the past. I have always started of at a very low dose and worked my way up and never needed more than 20mg a day. I was taking Celexa in the past is there a difference between Celexa and Citalopram?
