Hello All,
Well, this is my third time restarting escitalopram (sister of Celexa). My most recent experience with restarting AD's for anxiety has been by fart the most interesting. In May, I began to taper myself off, what I thought to he Celexa ( was escit), over a 3 month period of time. I got down to, I would say, 1.5-2.0 mg dose. By late July, early August I began to feel SSRI with drawl. Lets just say it was no fun! I figured my body was reacting to the absence of the medication. I decided to start back up on 5mg. As most of you know, there are s/e with restarting the medication as well. Here we go! The ups and downs of the SSRI. Decided to make an apt w the Pdoc. I was told to stay on 5mg for another week. Increase to 10 mg the following week. The increase to 10mg increased my anxiety, not to mention I was starting a new job at the same time. Spoke with the Pdoc about my symptoms. The pdoc decided to switch the med from escit to Celexa. Long story short, I went back to escit 10mg (started yesterday). While, the physiological s/s have lessened, the pysch s/e are still present. Ive gotten so use to the phys and pysch issues going hand and hand--it creates some worry and despair when just the pysch s/e reappear. Like Kate and others on the forum say, I try to remain positive and believe that these symptoms (pysch) just like the other symptoms will eventually lessen in time. By the wy, Ive decided to start at 5mg and will increase to 10 in the next couple weeks or so.
This forum has been so helpful in recovery, Thank you all!
