I've ached every day this week! Plus all of a sudden my not so hamster face seems more hamster hahaha!! Do I blame the tablets or is it all in my head???? Has anyone else had the same experience???

If your concern about this batch of prednisone is because you are aching more, you might also consider Eileen’s response to Bob73443 (Proper response to flareup) about 11 days ago.  Eileen listed three reasonas why the pain etc may  return at a constant dose: the underlying disorder may have become worse (my rheumatologist has said that the condition could fluctuate); you may have been doing more; or the dose you were on has not been quite high enough and over time, the inflammation has crept up over the threshold at which you experience pain.

Ideally, the manufacturer should not matter, but the world is less ideal than we would lke!

I have to say - being a very cynical sort of person my immediate response would have been much the same as Andrea's! If you change medication and then your symptoms change/appear - until proven otherwise my first suspicion would be the medication.

One way of checking is to always have some of the old, proven version in hand, try the new one and if there are adverse effects go back to the old one and see if it improves. QED...

Hi Andrea, I get my stock from a good supplier (a multiple such as Boots/LLoyds, etc) rather than independent chemist shops. The bio-availability (active ingredient) can vary slightly with each manufacturer. If you have had enteric coated prednisolone, and then changed, you might find that the enteric coated is not quite as effective. I have seen some information about this somewhere but it is not generally mentioned. I think it might matter more on very low doses than it does on the very high ones.

Hi Andrea and others with RA,

Just to let you all know that I am suffering with RA for over 4 years and I am taking Pednisolone for over 3 years.  It used to be a white box with maroon colour highlights on it which was not very useful, then the pharmacist gave me a white box with green highlights on it which was a bit of a relief and I have lost sleep over the years.  Of late for the past two weeks I have got a white box with pink colour highlights on one side of the box.  Im taking 5 mg daily and instead of in the morning I take it in the night.  I do get some sleep and am a bit more active in the morning than I used to be.  I am not sure how well this will go on.  So if you can please try this and see if it helps.  This Prednisolone is from GENESIS PHARMAEUTICALS.  GOOD HEALTH AND GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

    Mrs P Louis.

Just reviving this. Long story short - I am down to 6mg and was stable on it. Not 100% as most of you possibly know, still get flares and cant overdo things...anyway, I did try to make my way down to 5mg - got as far as 5.5mg and felt fine after a little bit of aches and pains for a week or so (i decrease by .25 a month). Then suddenly everything started to hurt - shoulders, hips, extreme fatigue (not that I am ever not fatigued) - so I was put back up to 6mg. But, still the pain stayed and after two weeks I noticed Id been given what seemed like a different pred, at least the trade name is different. The pain hit on Activas and has now resolved on Almus. Is it possible that one pred is less effective. I did ask the pharma and he mentioned fillers, as with Eileen's answer above. Anyone else?
