Difficulty swallowing

Just wondered if anyone else has difficulty swallowing that just came on. Been like this since January ent said it was anxiety. It does seem to be getting worse i also have other symptons , a funny sensation in my head, and like a pressure in my chest. I am 53 and going through the menopause. Did think it could be related to menopause maybe. I have lost 3 stone since the swallowing problems started. Its starting to get me down now. Any advice would be great

i get all the above, im doing a low histamine diet which helps with the swallowing, the head and chest pressure happen when hormones fluctuate x

hi,
it could be acid reflux/GERD, which can come on with peri/meno. the reflux can cause inflammation which gives you that "tight throat" feeling, and anxiety certainly doesn't help. you might perhaps try an antacid and see? if it is reflux, you would feel some relief ❤️

Hi this could be a sensation called globus where it feels like there is a lump in your throat and hard to swallow. i don't know if they really can say why people get it. i have had this and it has come and gone. My own feeling is that it is related to muscles tension - i have a lot of shoulder and neck tension - combined with anxiety. it feels very weird but is not dangerous. mine just went away on its own. maybe get some massage and relaxation...easy to say I know but I think all of these things are symptoms of menopause more generally. some people recommend chewing gum so that you swallow a lot. i think it does help a bit. hope you feel better soon.
