Difficulty taking deep breath

I am 26 years old and have had difficulty a taking a deep breath most of my life. It started when I was about 8 years old, and has just gotten worse. It comes and goes, sometimes I can go an entire week without it happening, however sometimes it feels like it's taking over my life.

when it happens my chest feels tight, I try to take a breath but I am left unsatisified, like I

Am not getting a full breath. The only way to get a full deep breath is to breath in very..very slowly or when I yawn it usually works. These constant attempts to get this full deep breath are causing chest pains, I also sometimes feel dizzy and my heart races but this is probably due to me being worried about not being able to breath.

I have been to the doctors several times and they don't know what it is, they think it could be due to my diet (which is poor) and my lack of excersise.

Any advise anyone could give me on this would be great.

Thanks! smile

I suggest you ask your GP to get you a MRI scan and to see a lung consultant.  This kind of problem requires special knowledge and skill to diagnose, and even good GPs  don't have the skill.

    good luck.

I think you should look into silent reflux a GI DOCTOR can help you with that, I have very bad reflux  but not the indigestion kind I get shortness of breath from it and some days are good and some are bad but food has a lot to do with it. Make an appt with a gastroenterologist it may help

I've had that all my life too ('m 63) .. it's one of the most irritating and frustrating things I've ever experienced!

And it wasn't until I was diagnosed with copd and learned about 'tummy breathing', that I discovered that tummy breathing helps with that problem too!

Try it .. I'd be interested to know if it works for you too..

(I've always eaten healthily, and always excercised a lot .. so I think it's probably anxiety with me)
