Disappointment

Hi everyone,
I finally had my review appointment on Monday as it had been cancelled, so it became a 9 week review instead of six. Anyway, I didnt see the surgeon who did my LTHR he must have been one of the registrars, he was nice enough though, he only seemed interested in my scar healing and didnt want to discuss my surgery at all. I asked him "what was my hip packed with" he became very vague so I had to rephrased it to "a problem occured with something the surgery team didnt expect so what was my hip packed with", oh you had a bone cyst and graft he told me. He then asked me if I was back to normal things when I said the fact that I would normally walk 3 miles to the swimming pool, swim 40/50 lenghts and walk home again, so no I'm not, right he said well, they did a lot in your surgery. I am so disappointed with the appointment i was only with him about 5 minutes,he didnt want to discuss or answer anything.

not happy, why not write to the surgeon or phone his pa for
another appointment. Its such a grey area with these check ups..I think if your managing the pain and can walk..thats the box ticked.. good luck. X

Thank you for your reply, i am trying to keep quiet at the moment as I have complained before but it was about my previous surgeon, i also receive emailed questionaires regarding my recovery but these say that it is a trial, so not sure what to do.

I had a similar experience. You travel all the way there, hang around in the waiting room for ages then get 5 minutes with somebody who's never seen you or your hip/knee/whatever before. I had serious complications with my THR ( long story) which meant I couldn't drive for 5 months. I'm self employed (so no sick pay) and live on my own. I was told to "employ a driver." I was speechless! I also have no idea what my hip was packed with. I hope hospital managers read this forum so that they can improve the post-op experience for people.

Thank you for your reply, the Registrar even asked me if I have returned to normal activities I was a bit speechless to be honest, i have found that the medical profession and this includes my GP does not want to discuss or inform me of any problems that i have, i also have a spinal problem but it seems as if it is nothing to do with me.

Hey there I would get another appointment to see the actual surgeon! There seems to be a lot of unanswered questions and to see someone who's not the one that did operation is crazy!! Demand to see the actual surgeon! Sorry this makes me mad especially since you are having problems. Prayers that all goes well for you and you get to feeling better. Hugs, 🤗🤗. LD

Hi Anna,
Thanks for the reply, after care and physio seem to be non existence
also saw a nurse before the registrar, I'm finding the lack of care quite
alarming, it sometimes feels as if they are saying 'doI have to see you're
and' I'm getting rid of you asap'
