Disc fusion

I had part of a disc removed in lower back in September and the same disc has prolapsed and not sure whether to get a fusion done? Any advice?

    I wouldn't do a fusion until it is absolutely necessary. I've had 3 laminectomy , 2 for herniated disc and one for spinal stenosis.  Every time a back surgery is done it invites a new problem .  Mine then  became unstable and I had a fusion this past April.  Recovery is much longer and more difficult than the other back surgeries .  .  I would follow the doctor's advice,  go through all the conservative measures first and then do it as a last resort .

    Had this done in March.  Versus a standard back-entry TLIF fusion:

    - 90-minute op vs 4-6 hours

    - single device vs rails

    - one night in the hospital vs 10 days

    - no back brace vs wearing a brace for 4 months

    - zero rehab vs 3-6 months

    -complete, IMMEDIATE pain relief with no meds vs pain and meds

    Yes, there was some residual nerve pain for a few weeks since they retract the nerve roots.

    If you need a fusion, ask for THIS ONE!!!  LLIF (Lateral Lumbar Interbody Fusion).  Search YouTube for "globus lateral"...cute animation. Posterior and lateral pix attached...

    I ve suffered the same had my op like yes 2013 and 4 wks ago had to have spinal fusion . So far I don't regret it and thinks looking good. Has My operation in a private spire hospital via the nhs . The first 2 wks were tough am not going lie . I've taking arnica tablets a week b4 my op and continue to take them now . From holland and Barrett . They heal you from the inside I swear by these .
