discectomy 22nd Dec

Hi All,

I had open discectomy on the 22nd of Dec although the leg pain and pins and needles have reduced, I used to be bad every day now it's just 3/4 days a week and tbh if the surgeon promised me this before the op I would of snapped his hand off, the problem I'm got still is a walk to one side like me spine is going over to the the left, and when I tried to run I get a awful shooting pain form my back down my leg, and if I move a certain way I get the same sort of pain, I'm just wondering if any one else has had this same problem,

Thanks Mike 😬

Oh yea; after my 3rd lumbar OP. I kept tellinng the Dr. that my pain was getting worse and the P&N feeling was down my legs. After an MRI he told me I was fine. I lept getting worse and then after about 5 months the pain was so bad my wife took me to the ER. They did a Myloegram and told me i needed surgery and then 30 days later i had my 5th operation. The DISC had splintered into fragments and didnt show on MRI.

i just read an article today that said the average MRI is about 65% reliable and when we lay on our back and dont move about the spine lines up better and the problem isnt showing up. Now the new MRI has the patient sitting or in a bent position. Now a better picture is made and more can be seen.

Lots of PT, MOIST HEAT & STRETCHING -  No running not yet, its to soon for that.  If you dont get better tell the Dr to look harder. We know our bodies better than anyone and if something is wrong we know. The problem is to convince the Dr.

    Good luck !

    Hi

I had the same problem walking over to one side for months before my surgery my doctor said it's your body trying to move away from the pain of herniated disc since my op 14 weeks ago I don't have this problem. I would tell your doctor I know everyone heals differently but I haven't had much sciatica since op just stiffness so it could b a sign of a problem best to check out good luck !
